I legit thought he passed because I completely forgot about him. Then when Buck and Aikman were discussing the upcoming All Madden, some of the words they used made it seem like he did.

He stepped away from coaching the same way. He never went back to it no matter how many times his name came up in the early 80's. Broadcasting wasn't a stop gap recharge the batteries for him like it is for others he really enjoyed it and wanted to teach viewers football.

Loved him and Pat growing up. The best commentary team of my life in any sport I think
They were great. The only one that I think is close is Keith Jackson and Bob Griese, largely on the strength of Jackson. I watched way more college football than pro growing up and Jackson is a part of the soundtrack of my childhood.
