I added some okra to the soup today, and now he’s fasting and can’t have any. I’m just sitting sipping on it and sniffing because it’s spicy but good.
Never tried okra. Can't get over the slimey look of it.

If you don’t over cook it it won’t be slimy, I like it with a bit of crunch. If you add it to the end of dishes and let the residual heat cook it through it should retain its crunch and offer a bit of sweetness.

Okra is good for the slip and slide ride with your girl apparently.

Made a baked/roast chicken today for dinner. I put it on some pumpkin grits and served with roasted veg and gravy (not pictured). I packed some up for his lunch tomorrow. I also made a cucumber and ginger lemonade to go with it. He took a quick disco nap after he ate. :russ:

I made spicy prawns with a basils marinara sauce on spaghetti squash for a low carb dinner a few days ago but I forgot to post it.

I forgot to take a pic of yesterdays dinner which was a sweet soy glazed baked salmon with lentils and spicy sautéed collard greens. I also made some vegetarian gyozas to go with dinner for appetizers

Today I made beef stir fry on black rice served with a some pineapple, carrot, ginger and cucumber juice.

Who got a deep fryer they recommend? I don’t fry food at home because I don’t like all the oil it leaves everywhere and the smell. But the Mr really has been pressing for some fried stuff occasionally, and with gentrification, Oakland is lacking places to get good fried fish/chicken/shrimp. Figure if I get a deep fryer, I can use it outside and save the inside of the house.

That’s the one I use and thank Xenu for that splash guard.

I like Brenda’s Oakland, it’s a shout. Gus’ Fried Chicken is good, too, but to be fair, I haven’t tried the Oakland spot. Only the one in the DMV.

I like a cheap fry daddy, and I also fry on the deck or in my garage. I like Perch, you are crazy if you fry Perch in your house 😂

Drop that recipe!

just now seeing this. i don't know measurements or times though. it was probably about 1 pound spinach and 4 breasts.

creamed spinach:
1. saute cleaned spinach until wilted
2. ring the spinach out in a towel until dry (optional, i didn't want juicy spinach for this recipe)
3. chop the spinach up
3. add alfredo sauce to make it creamy (i didn't have cream on hand so i used shortcut)
4. add shredded cheddar cheese
5. season to taste (garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper)

chicken breast:
1. make a slit or butterfly a defrosted boneless breast
2. season inside and out (use paprika for a good color)
3. stuff it with the spinach and secure with toothpicks
4. brown/sear it on the stovetop for color
5. finish in airfryer/oven.
6. remove toothpicks and enjoy!
