Wow @Still Ill FC absolutely amazing
Thank you. Those flicks are from two years ago. My presentation is much better now. I've been cooking Japanese and Thai a lot lately. I'm trying to expand my skills. Candied garlic and sugar shiitake mushroom. Japanese cucumber salad. And amy's organic mac n cheese. I made this for a child. It's real clean.
20151218_201333_zpsldzbflvs.jpg

Mediterranean meatballs with cabbage carrot slaw. Meatballs are beef and goat meat with parsley and onion. The slaw sauce is what I call Mediterranean simple syrup. Just add mint and vinegar. Lol I'm telling you my secrets now. Its Real simple. Now I simplify everything because Asian food taught me that.

The glass with lemon is actually a hot lemon tea. I use the every part of the lemon to bring out the full flavor of the lemon. It's called infusion. I poke a hole in a cooked lemon half and poor the hot lemon tea through it into the cup I'm serving it in. I could quick chill it in an ice bath and have ice-cold lemonade in 5 minutes. I allow my guests to sweeten to taste.

Pigs in a hole takes skills. For real. Practice making this and you'll learn how hard it is to cook eggs and toast perfectly. You'll also master those things. I made the apple sauce myself too. All you gotta to do is bake apples to make apple sauce. Then mash them. Add cinnamon or sugar. It's simple.

This is me getting fancy again and using every part of a fruit. I bought 50 dollars worth of fruit and made hella shyt. A dessert. Drinks. And appetizers. I have four kinds of peaches, blue, and straw berries. Also a pickle and a kale hand Caesar salad. Real simple. That baked peach is bae. I made a semi frozen vanilla whipped cream with it. It's supposed to be like ice cream but light.

I never forget where I come from though. These are favorite things to make:
20150706_173738_zpsk5iw8orx.jpg

I made the tortilla chips from scratch. Made the dough into tortilla. Cooked them. Shaped them. Then fried them. I call these deconstructed nachos.
20150603_1643280_zpsykqvodqa.jpg

I made the salsa myself. Fire roasted everything on a stove top. Real simple. Garnish with carrots.

Ribeye, spicy orange shrimp, cauliflower mash w/mascarpone cheese, & asparagus. This was my 1st making or even having hollandaise sauce. Tasted good to me but then I don't know what it's supposed to taste like lol

very nice plates, both of you.. :salute:

@detroitwalt throw some oyster shrooms on that joint.. saute the shrimp.. add the asparagus & that Hollandaise.. plate the shrimp, aside(w/your sauce)..

the rest.. on the steak.. :damn:

They have farm box services that will deliver fresh vegetables weekly to your door. You don't get to pick. They give you whatever they have and description of the veggies and recipes. It's expensive but fun. I'd have some buddies throw money down so you can share it.
You'd get this:

I did this:

A salad can include anything:

Fruit salad a la mister mom:

I learn a new technique almost daily. And I grew up poor. I think it boils down to hard work and not cutting corners. I'm decent at cooking vegetables and fruit. My pizza and tamale game is acceptable. But put me in front of meat and im a child, lol.

There's level to this shyt. Real talk, home cooks got skills too. They're just not good under pressure. Only difference between me and a home cook is the shot clock. I can make the game winning shot consistently.

I just started posting in this thread and I'm new to the coli. Only reason I cook veggies like that is I was a vegetarian from the ages of 18 to 24. My clients were vegetarian. Gluten free. Etc. The companies I work for also focus on that. I also worked for an Italian family so I can cook that decent enough to pass for authentic.

I like this thread. Ya'll are good cooks. Shout out to males who cook. Your plates look better than mine lol. I'm jealous. I'm impressed. Only difference is I'm around cooks all the time. So I steal secrets and recipes. I advise you all to steal techniques. Watch the hands not the recipes.

I don't grown my own. I have access to farm boxes. It's a service that delivers farm fresh seasonal veggies to the address of your choice. It's a lot fun and challenging to make things out of the box. They usually give you a description of the items and suggestions for recipes.

I also grew up around Mexican immigrants. I get shyt that fell off the back of a truck from my Barrio brothers. Lol there are advantages to being raised in the hood.

Thank you. This thread reminded why I started cooking in the first place. I want to bring great simple food to my community. We can start an industry around it. Buy cheap buildings and turn them into grow ops for veggies. Raise chickens and goats. Laws are changing that will allow homes to operate as commissaries. The hood can be one giant urban farm. Everybody would have a job and access to cheap high quality food.

That's my dream man. I hope to achieve that on some level. Ive seen the white boys do it with weed and drug dealers do it with crack. Hopefully I can do it with food before more white folks come in a do it before me.

So I started reading the beginning of this thread again just for the hell of it when I came across this exchange

See that meal your about to eat, take a pic of it and upload it on here later so we can get ideas and see how people are eating. This is unlike the thread in the gym room because the food here doesnt have to be workout based.

Ill go first..

Smocked peppercorn mackerel with potatoes and mixed veg :jawalrus:
