I get all of this. I’m saying you can’t expect much of an identity around “blackness” because it’s actually an American construct. Because of globalization and the export of white supremacy, yes there is a need for us to rally around blackness as a common identity and to get on code. However, I don’t think it’s fair to ask that question right now of some Continentals when obviously many still have issues with how they identify locally. I think your question is more appropriate for Africans in America or in the UK or France. If they say anything other than black, then there is a problem.

And of course Africa is not all black. It was a figure of speech.

I don't think it's that far-fetched actually. I think a lot of Africans are further along the curve than you give them credit for, especially young people in urban areas. At the very least if they don't have a sizeable white population they see what African Americans go through via the media and internet.

What do you guys think about being black before being Yoruba, Igbo, Nigerian, Kenyan, South African etc?:jbhmm:

Which is not to say give up your culture or anything, but recognise that ultimately we are different branches of the same tree so to speak.

Lord knows we need to come together. Everybody else gangs up on us all the time but we're too busy fighting amongst ourselves. :martin::snoop:

“We are our own worst enemy.”

nothing wrong with identifying with your tribe. We got 10 different tribes in my country and I represent mine through and through with no shame, and that doesn't come at the expense of shytting on other tribes :yeshrug:

The issue is your tribe is a non factor when it comes to doing business and politics. Those traditions really only should be a factor in your home.

Funny that the name, Nigeria came from a British journalist named, Flora Shaw. She later became the wife of some Brit colonial administrator. That region has always compromised o different tribal groups. Meaning that they were never one. The Europeans created this problem. Nigeria didn't even become a republic until 1963 that was recognized (1960).

Nigeria is a colonial creation. The name is itself was created by a white woman. You should be going by your tribe.

This the woman who did so.

Personally, I absolve cacs and white supremacy of MOST what we accuse them of.

fukk how Tariq abused the phrase, "We're our own worst enemy" because the phrase is accurate after all.

We can see the solution to our problems, and many of us STILL are unwilling to drop stupid tribalism. WE REFUSE TO EVOLVE BEYOND TRIBALISM!

We deserve to be punked by the world as we hold on to tribes. No tribe can compete with a nation or a United Nations.

All you brehs proud and clinging to your tribes: what significant thing has your tribe done on a global scale in the last 100, 200, 500 years?
