:laff: the dumbasses hating on this. Tribalism was the main reason Europe was able to take over Africa. Had nikkas capturing each other and selling each other for a bottle of wine because they were from different tribes:mjlol:. Black people in Africa need to stop with this tribal shyt if they want to move forward because the chinese are closing in fast:ufdup:.

the more lines you draw internally, the less power you have collectively. i can't speak on nigeria in particular since i'm not nigerian, but as an AA, the schism and divide we as a black diaspora continue to perpetuate alone is a big inhibitor to collective economic success. but that's life :manny:

Europeans didn’t always get along and race, being less than 500 years old, is a European concept

That's why I say we are not "oppressed" just a divided house.

But that division seems to slowly be closing

I started to share a personal experience but I'd rather not. I'll just say... SOME Nigerians in the diaspora can have a funny way of being proud to be "Nigerian" when there's a chance to brag on being "Nigerian" or "Nigeria"-- but I won't see their actions reflect it for the country.

Been wanting to share for a minute this book I got for free the other week. Haven't started it yet but I'm interested to see what will be shared. Anyone here familiar with it?

Why would race be important on a continent where everybody is black? Race only becomes important when everyone doesn’t look like you.

It's important because we all suffer the effects of white supremacy, even in Africa. We're not going to build the continent and defeat it whilst fighting amongst ourselves.

And not everybody in Africa is black. It's hella cacs where I live, there must be only 3 black families on the street out of like 20 houses. Even though they're not as populous in other African countries white people have a seriously disproportionate amount of power in Africa due to their wealth.

I get all of this. I’m saying you can’t expect much of an identity around “blackness” because it’s actually an American construct. Because of globalization and the export of white supremacy, yes there is a need for us to rally around blackness as a common identity and to get on code. However, I don’t think it’s fair to ask that question right now of some Continentals when obviously many still have issues with how they identify locally. I think your question is more appropriate for Africans in America or in the UK or France. If they say anything other than black, then there is a problem.

And of course Africa is not all black. It was a figure of speech.

nothing wrong with identifying with your tribe. We got 10 different tribes in my country and I represent mine through and through with no shame, and that doesn't come at the expense of shytting on other tribes :yeshrug:
