Btw I know New Orleans And Katrina and Houston and Harvey are really easy to point to and say "oh they only had a disaster because poor city planning, city basically a bowl yadda yadda yadda"
I expect it's so people can feel better

It shouldn't. Katrina and Harvey completely obliterated other towns and cities in Texas Louisiana and Miss, you just don't hear about them as much, not as sexy a story. Those people who's lives were destroyed aren't happy and proud because their "city planners were better"

People gotta stop panicking so early. So many people ran away from South FL straight into the eye of the storm.

I get that a lot of people hadn't gone through a big storm down here before, but when lifelong Floridians are keeping their heads and taking in all the news with skepticism it's for a reason. This happens every single time.

Tampa isn't built for storms at all. Worst possible city in the state to take this hit :mjcry:

Like I said, it boils down to money. They spend taxes on shyt that has nothing to with Americans. However, shutters is where the lines are drawn. Know why?

Because it's too much money to be made off us.

But the government doesn't even sell us hurricane shutters. Private businesses do. The government just requires us to have them.

The Florida Building Code requires new buildings constructed in hurricane-prone regions of the state to be designed and constructed to withstand the impact of debris carried by high winds (wind-borne debris). To this end, new buildings located in regions the code designates as “wind-borne debris regions” (see Attachment 1) must meet one of two standards. They must either be designed to withstand wind pressures that occur when windows and doors are pierced in a storm (i.e., internal pressures) or (2) any exterior glass windows and doors must be made of shatter-resistant glass or protected by storm shutters to withstand external pressure.

And this was all started after hurricane Andrew. My house came with shutters. But that was not from the government. They don't have anything to do with hurricane shutters.

This is overhyped bullshyt. There's no way a cat 5 in miami kills 2000 people. The high number of deaths in NO was because of poor engineering with the whole city below sea level. Wind damage would be more of a concern than flooding in south fl. Get out of the flood prone areas and/or get to a shelter.
breh that tweet is about tampa not miami.
