Big Wu fan since day one... all y'all saying INS should've produced his own album based off the strength of "Let Me At Them"... no.
Was a wack beat back then, super amateurish, bass didn't match the sample, off key, wack drums... and not in a 'rough-but-its-still dope' RZA type of way either...The joint sounded exactly how it should if that episode was a true depiction - INS tinkering with RZA's equipment and ending up with that beat. I was amped in '95 when I saw the ad for the Tales From the Hood soundtrack and it said it had a Wu-Tang Clan track.... and then I heard "Let Me At Them" and was like WTF is this??? shyt was borderline mid at best, even for the most die hard Wu fan.

One thing I enjoy about the series, though it's not perfect, is the songs remade by the actors. I would like to have "criminology" played at the end of the episode and other tracks.

Wasn't mad at the episode. I would rather see more BTS real life inspired stuff, but if you already know any catch the references, there are still things to pick up.

As far as BIG having a beard, I suspect they didn't want to make him too accurate as they may have had to pay Ms. Wallace for his likeness. Same with Big L. Notice they didn't use any real or stage names. If they called Big L Big L or even Lamont, his estate could go after the show for a check.

yes

I agree

Im not a huge fan of the beat

But deck evolved into a dope producer and gave away better beats than he gave himself

Idk what happened to his beats post 2000 tho cause it never hit the same

Good deck beats:
Visions
Kiss of the black widow
Beneath the surface
Stay true
Word in the street

Rza mentioned he didnt get to mix decks album. Tbh tha a big thing in itself. Decks beats felt dead without rzas touch like on supreme. Rza is a lot like dre in that way, he can engineer the sound right.

Yall should check this to hear what a proper deck album shouod sound like

Was suprised to see it so popular on yt. 1st joint is insane over protect ya neck 2.

Other tapes... most albums back then were standard silver/grey cassettes, that's why that purple tape stood out so much... that's how I interpreted it :yeshrug:
figured, it threw me off tho because they were more gray

The guest appearances and references were great. (I knew we weren't gonna go through the whole series without a "is he dead?")

Did I like reading that xxl article about the creation of ob4cl more than watching this episode? Yes.

But it was definitely better than the odb episode and had some cool moments for sure

This episode was fire. I love these allegory episodes that break down the thought process behind making the albums. The creative angle of the Clan really shines in these episodes, and show you why the Wu is different from everything before, during and after.
Def. even this episode. Wu tang started all this nickname mafia esque shyt that so many rappers took off with later. This episode was a testament to raekwons vision of nyc rap.

Besides Ghost RZA has had the most dynamic career.

Acting in major studio films, Directing his OWN films, scoring films for others, traveling the world starting labels in different countries, writing books, all whilst remaining an in-demand producer.

RZA has rubbed shoulders with Hollywood’s elite and they all fukk with him and acknowledge his talent. A RZA focused show would be like a Hip Hop Forest Gump series. shyt would awesome.

Dont forget when he was trying ti be a scientist with microscopes n shyt
Created serato / innovated hip hop tech by starting an electronics company and making his OWN beat machine; scratchin shyt you couldnt scratch in 99/01
Record shopping in europe while all the diggers were here
Directing movie in china
Creating a bulletproof bibby digital suit and range rover on some super hero dust shyt

Rza really is one of yhe most successfull hip hop artists of all times and spaces. He is god to me. He thinks it. It happens. All based on his era defining music. Wu tang has more business collabs than any rapper alone. Had the game in the yolk.

Like ykim said “the rza-rd of oz”
