This is not support? What were you saying here then?
Ok so you don’t have anything. Thanks for playing.

We are jumping into some Bernie bro level fallacies if me asking for some critical thinking (and not parroting lines from their favorite Twitter blue check or media outlets) from those with an opinion on every appointment means I support them all :mjlol:

That should be the play but Democrats love to play defense. So we get this instead:

I was going to say they only know how to play defense, but they're pretty good at disparaging and pinning the blame on Progressives. Somehow they never want to bring that same energy and messaging against Republicans :unimpressed:

Centrist Democrats have successfully shifted the blame for their losses on to the Progressives and 'defund the police' but they don't can't or don't want to do the same to Republicans. They're more open to reconciliation, bipartisanship and even hugs for them :scust:
"Mitch McConnell is stopping you from getting money."

That's it, and they won't do it because they still want to be friends with McConnell, even after all of his bad behavior.

He's right. House Dems were favored to win seats. Instead they lost seats which is embarrassing. Defend the police is political death and Republicans stuck it on Dems hard.

Biden shut that message down but the rest of the Dems didn't do it in a meaningful way for it to stick.

The next time the police break into the wrong house and strangle a 12 year old black girl to death, resulting in predator drones being deployed over the resultant BLM protests, Biden's gonna come out and say "Not All Police" while having a beer with the Sargeant who authorized the raid and Kamala's brother-in-law because he's afraid of looking too radical to 5 midwestern cacs who tell pollsters they're open to voting for Democrats if they'd just drop the radical reverse racism but just end up voting Republican anyways.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. We can operate with some nuance and have some view of future precedence here.

I get it, people want Biden to exercise execution action to the limits of his powers because 1. They believe that its the only way thing will get done and 2. A GOP president wouldn't hesitate to do it if needed. However, I'm not going to castigate someone for actually considering where and on what actions qualify as abuse of executive power.

I had a pretty heated discussion over this with a friend and the question was asked "What are we going to do when our guy abuses the rules? Even for a just cause?"

I still don't have an qualified answer for that. I believe my views are just, but most people view their causes as such.

Biden just nominated someone who never served in the military to be Secretary of the VA. Dont see that going over well with vets or the military. He was a deputy NSA and Chief of Staff to Obama.

Dems have never tried to make Mitch polarizing. That is what Dems need to do. Make people angry at Mitch.
Steve King, previously Michelle Bachmann, Ted Cruz, Devin Nunez, Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz ... the list of despicable Republicans is endless and can be used to attack them in many ways. But Democrats never do it.

Before the election every single poll I've seen was heavily in favor of BLM and protests against police brutality. After the election Democrats themselves get on a call, leak to the media and then go on a media campaign against "Defund the Police" :gucci:

Democrats themselves are fanning the flames on "Defund the Police" messaging, they have made it a bigger story than it is in order to shift the blame for their losses. They're more than willing to concede the big picture narrative to Republicans just to save their asses.

On the other hand every time there is a Republican scandal (Trump says the troops are losers/suckers, Republican governor body slams a reporter, Republican rep. calls AOC a fukking bytch, stock sell offs and other mass corruption, etc) all Republican politicians do is say "I haven't read that story", "I haven't seen the full quote", "That looks concerning" and walk away. Meanwhile Democrats got their mouth full with defund the police they can't focus on stimulus messaging.

"Mitch McConnell is stopping you from getting money."

That's it, and they won't do it because they still want to be friends with McConnell, even after all of his bad behavior.
Even liability protection is easy enough to grasp for general public but FREE MONEY is the easiest pitch of all time.

had almost nothing to do with “defund the police”

i’ve been over this before on this forum. they lost seats in districts where trump did really well. having him on the ballot this year pushed republican turnout. and the idea that people split tickets between biden and the republican house candidates in districts the GOP House won isn’t supported by evidence.

democrats lost house seats because trump did unexpectedly well

Democrats have been screaming about Mitch McConnell blocking the stimulus since the Heroes Act passed in May.

Did anybody give a fukk? Obviously not since he won reelection pretty easily and so did every other Rethuglican in congress except Martha McSally and Cory Gardner.

Doesn't matter. If he really didn't like it, he could have come up with a serious counter. Instead he put some bullshyt on the Senate floor that neither party would agree to, and he and all the other Senate Rethuglicans threw shade at Mnuchin like some high school girls while he was negotiating with Pelosi. He was never serious about a stimulus regardless of what was in it, and that's the issue.

But if we go with the idea that the Heroes Act was 'democratic pork,' that just speaks to my earlier point about how nonsensical it would be for Biden to promise $1500 a month when congress can't even get on board with a one-time $1200 check. It'd be bullshyt, and trying to attack McConnell for blocking it wouldn't work because everybody would know it's some bullshyt.

look, i dont really have any arguments with anyone in the thread

i just wish the dems would write a simple, direct bill with a bunch of direct money that republicans will have a hard time turning down. it clearly isnt happening :yeshrug:

"Mitch McConnell is stopping you from getting money."

That's it, and they won't do it because they still want to be friends with McConnell, even after all of his bad behavior.

What difference do you think that would actually make? :gucci:

Mitch would just call Biden a socialist who wants to give out handouts and/or complain about the debt, and people would just believe whoever they were already inclined to believe. Would not move the needle.
