Word on the street in Haiti was that he tried to get a consensus of all Haitian political parties but the US ambassador to Haiti sabotaged him in every way. The US policy for n the ground in Haiti seems to be allowing elections. Thinking elections solve everything. It’s like prescribing a cancer patient aspirin. Haiti has a lot of issues including food insecurity, economic malaise, political unrest and out of control gang violence. The rumor is that the US policy to the super gangs in Haiti is trying to create a federation of gangs that are under one leader to gain control of the situation.

The bizarre thing to me is how heavily armed the gangs have gotten the last 5 years. So many guns from Florida and Louisiana is flooding to Haiti. Where is the coast guard to interdict these firearms? Honestly this sounds like a future scandal in the making. Gangs is Haiti outgun the police. Haitians want the police and the army to crack down, dismantle and disarm the gangs. But the US supports the politicians and mulatto/Arab wealthy elites who arm and finance these gangs. This is what is aggravating. If there is general insecurity the people can’t live and the economy can’t function. If the US really wants to Haiti they would close down the pipeline of guns flooding Haiti. They would support the return of the army and send advisors to train the national police and army to crush the gangs. But they aren’t. They are allowing the status quo go on by supporting the elites and political parties that benefit from Haitian instability and corruption. For God sakes the US put Ariel Henry to be prime minister when he was on the phone with one of the planners the night of the assassination of Jovnel Moise. The US never had and never will have Haiti’s interest at heart. And it doesn’t matter party is in office because both parties fukked up Haiti with their policies. And Biden and continuing with this tradition backing Ariel Henry and doing nothing about the flood of guns going to Haiti.

It doesn't matter if Dems are bad at governing (which isn't the actual problem - they are governing, it's just that you don't like what they are choosing). We are stuck with a shyt two party system by design so Democrats are always going to be preferable even when they suck.

Putting pressure on them doesn't work because Dem leadership is bought out. Manchin and probably most Dem senators don't give a flying fukk what our opinion is because they are set for life. Without changing the fact that these people are rewarded by lobbyists and such for life for being shytheads nothing will change. Dems will always be the lesser of two evils.

"Oh I don't like Biden so let's put Trump 2.0 or Trump 3.0 in" "Put in President Nikki Haley and let conservative economics delete the small good things we have." Talk about "shoulds", but don't lose sight that of the bigger goal. This isn't about Dems. This is about the American people letting politicians fukk them in the ass. Hell, half of them (Republicans) want to be fukked in the ass. That's the problem. A great deal of our politicians should be in jail. That's not on Biden or McConnell or Trump or Manchin. That's on the American people.

Well...yeah. Some of them (Dems) want things and others don't. The American people are allowing big businesses to have an outsized effect on policy and law. If you vote Dem you might get something nice. Probably not. Because the rest of the American people voted to put shytheads in. It probably won't be a big progressive thing because crony capitalism is preventing that. But the American people are given some good things sometimes.

However if you don't vote for Dems and allow Republicans to call the shots not only will Americans never get a big thing passed, they won't get even small ones, and Republicans might even take away or destroy a lot of small things or maybe even big ones. They might even squander trillions of dollars on bullshyt because of their toxic ideology. Of course they will be maximally racist about it.

It's awful that those are the choices but there's a rational decision you have to make.

Asylum seekers are not undocumented people.
