This premise misses an important part of this story. Manchin has been moving left on the issue. The centrists warming up to a Public Option and expressing an openness to exploring single-payer is movement to the left created by growing consensus. Why stop pushing without forcing an explicit no? You say who will extract the best deal won't be determined by starting position, but starting by giving away leverage in the negotiation means you've already handicapped your negotiations. Maybe Manchin does become Lieberman, but you make him be that and carry that legacy moving forward. You don't let him off the hook and kiss his ass. And again, stop insulting Bernie supporters for actually wanting to pass M4A and not being willing to give up the fight before it's tried. Deporting them, or breaking international law like not allowing them to apply for asylum, is not going to stop immigration. We have enough resource to support them too. You have to break this white settler mindset.

700 million migrants wish to move to another country in the near future with 147 million of them listing the US as their first destination. We cannot afford this. Who is paying for all of these people? Has nothing to do with racism and it’s intellectually dishonest to take it there. Got camps of homeless muthafukkas blocks from the U.S. Capitol Building living like animals and their plan is to pay out more money we obviously don’t have. Afghans are here because we fukked over their country beyond recognition, so we begrudgingly let some in…and even then we left the wide majority…millions of them to their fate. So what? The people of Haiti thought because we had an agreement with someone else that didn’t involve them that it was an opportune time to bogart their way in? And we’re supposed to defend this?
