If only the POTUS could get 2 senators in his own party to kill the filibuster we wouldn't be here.

At this point, I'm not even sure it matters anymore.

They would still have to capitulate to Manchin, who would essentially be arguing for the Republican side, and Sinema's only purpose in the Senate seems to be trolling and ratfukking, so I'm not even sure Dems could secure 50 votes on most major legislation.

pretty much . if the filibuster was killed we'd just have new problems emerge ie sinemia, manchin and whoever else wanted their 15 min of fame

of course, if given the option i'd rather have those problems than the GQP blocking any meaningful legislation, but assuming elimination of the filibuster would solve all problems is mistaken i believe

Joe Manchin is inherently unserious about 'bipartisanship.'

He was so quick and proud to use his leverage against the Dems during the stimulus to halt the infrastructure bill and try to talk the corporate tax rate down. But he refuses to use that same leverage to force Republicans to vote. If he had told the GQP, "Vote for this bill or I'll support ending the filibuster, and we'll pass it without you," he could have at least called their bluff. But he won't do that because he's corrupt and wants the filibuster in place as a shield, not because he gives a fukk about bipartisanship.

Like he said months ago, the Republicans are his friends, the Democrats are his colleagues. :unimpressed:

This attitude that the Democratic party is somehow some powerless entity against the GOP is pathetic. You're acting like the current POTUS has no ability to lean on 2 members of his own party and get what's stopping his agenda from passing. Especially since his opposition is showing exactly what he should be doing by doing it to him. But but I'm sure Joe really wants all this stuff passed it's just the GOP that's in his way and not his own party. The GOP is the excuse for why his agenda won't be passed when he has 2 senators in his own party who dgaf about what he wants done. Hell Sinema just spit in his face by not even showing up to vote. Just face it, Biden, Schumer and Pelosi are weak and truly will only look out more for corporate donors than us. Hope you like House Speaker Greene, majority leader McConnell next year and POTUS Desantis in 2024. That's what biden's need for bipartisanship and allowing his own party to strip his agenda will get you.

The same McConnell who had John McCain poo on their Obamacare repeal? :pachaha:

He's a great obstructionist... But I wouldn't give him any props for passing legislation
