The democrats had a super majority when Obama was first in office. They could've gotten gun control, roe codified and a new SCOTUS justice if RBG would've retired. You're thinking of the last 2 years. I'm thinking of the last 15. Bernie was right. The Dems should've raised the debt limit in the lame duck. This has nothing to do with the administration, this is stating the Treasury can independently issue perpetual bonds that have no terms on repayment that would fall outside of the debt ceiling because they don't technically have any face value.

The crux of all their positions is to go for plans based on political theory and ultimately dependent on the whims of the courts. Courts which they admit are largely skewed conservative or at minimum not progressive

I knew what time it was when Biden followed through and made the decision unilaterally forgive student loans and when the courts blocked it they somehow blamed Biden.

Further if you think using the 14th amendment or minting a coin is the way then why is it no one floats these ideas until it’s times for negotiations. Like if it’s sound, then why not push for it back in 2021 when dems still had full control and the outcome wouldn’t matter.

Same thing with the eviction moratorium. Biden and Pelosi said that the president couldn't extend it unilaterally, and it had to be an act of congress. And people complained nonstop that they were just cruel, heartless establishment Dems who didn't want to help people. So Biden signs an executive order and the Supreme Court blocked it, saying an extension did in fact have to be an act of congress.

And then the same people complaining got real quiet.
