this... if yall use a retirement caluculator... you'll see that this is what is needed. plus factor in inflation.... if rent is $1500/$1800 on average in 2024... in 30-40 years it'll be at least $5k I bet

Is one of the milestones in retirement a paid off house? If the house is paid off, why would you need to rent? :patrice:

i agree with you but many folks wont own. Let’s not act like most messages are not promoting “it’s better to rent than own”

I don’t have a number- having grown up money and food insecure would leave me with extreme fomo during my earning years especially with the cost of my sons education and general needs by the time he’s old enough.

There's plenty of places with cheap houses though, gotta look outside the big cities. I search for houses all day everyday.

So there's this guy in tech who built this company. And he sold it for $990 million.

That's my goal.

If I get that, I could ride off into the sunset and feel good about myself.

OT look at the numbers most people are giving, then think about how ridiculous it is the lottery is rigged for a billion dollar payout every few months.

Breh you probably dont need that much. The average interest on one million minus inflation invested is going to be more than $50K.

That's kind of why I'd say 1.5-2 mil.

I could live off 50k (and have lived off significantly less) but I wouldn't necessarily call it comfortable.

At least $4 million. I could live off of 3 or 4 percent interest.

Check this article out. The 4% rule is said to be too conservative in your early years of retirement.
