Those are platitudes breh.

In this country we like to delude ourselves into thinking we can save everyone if only we spend enough money/resources. It's definitely a starting point but we need to prioritize maximizing quality of life.
I’m saying the same thing. If you want to stay homeless, make that as comfortable as possible. Give out supplies to these people. Give them healthcare, etc.

We need cheaper housing in these expensive metros. Maybe we need something like The Fifth Element style living where people can have tiny-house sized apartments.

If I had the money I would make something like this. Each floor would also have entertainment rooms that residents could check out if they needed to entertain more than a couple guests.

they have that in Japan

as someone who has spent a good amount of time volunteering in skid row and have people who work in skid row. a bit of the mental issues and drug addiction come after the homelessness. the amount of people ho get into fights, or get hit by a car, then get taken to the hospital given painkillers then kicked back out on the street, that need more assistance so the turn to the drugs is higher than people think. They make getting off of the street and getting assistance pretty fukkin difficult. how you gonna get a form, that has to come to you by mail, if you dont have a fukkin address :dead:

but just giving people housing doesnt work, them people need counseling and shyt. even the most sane person has PTSD from being any kind of homeless for long period of time.

Nobody answered what they’d be willing to put toward solving homelessness, just the ever ubiquitous “we can solve it”. If there were a eradicate homelessness tax, how much of your check would you be ok going to this…2%? .75%? 7%? :jbhmm:

the federal government needs to get back into building homes/apartments(of course Republicans banned it)

I think the biggest pieces of the puzzle are mental health/substance abuse/need for universal health care

feds/state need to be able to institutionalize people again (pretty sure that's on Republicans too), I've read some crazy articles about closures and their effect on nys and supposedly NY alone is short thousands of beds

op is retarded

that's all I got

:manny:
We used to called those "housing projects".

You will never get rid of homelessness because of drugs & mental illness but it can easily be funded by reducing the Pentagon's budget . Some people just like being a bum & roaming the streets

Talking to my friend earlier and they had 2 people overdose and die in their new apartments. The next step should be for the government to be providing these people with "safer" drugs. It is irrational to let these people OD etc out on the streets, or driven to commit various crimes, bc their dope comes jam packed with all kinds of fentanyl and god only knows what else. I mean on one hand at least they didn't die on the streets, but beyond that I think that this approach would give them a chance to live a more fulfilling life (if that's what they want). The pharmaceutical industry could probably cook up designer versions of any street drug that might inhibit some of the more antisocial/psychopathic side effects.

From being homeless myself finding ways to keep people productive is the biggest challenge.

You can give homeless an apartment but then what?

If they got drug problems which most do..a part time or full time job is out of the question. They need jobs where they don't need a commitment like some day labor shyt.

We have trash in the streets on our highways they could be doing shyt like that but government don't want shyt to change.

All them dirty ass subway stations why can't they give those jobs to homeless people or addicts?

You looking down your nose?
Yes.
Housing projects built by the government don't work until the tenants are 60 years old +.
Senior citizen projects are clean, orderly, low crime, and for the most part, nice.
Housing projects for the homeless and poor can work, but only with rules, none of which the tenants want or politicians willing to enforce/mandate.
