You want more free money for upgrades? I spent $7k to do major repairs and got a lot of back in tax returns.
nah, i dont need shyt :dead:

but who maintains these places? pays the bills? why is that more effective than one unit that houses people like any dorm setting?

not to mention OP is in here literally offering up other peoples' backyards :laff:

To end the homeless crisis you gotta address drug/mental issues as well.

Go down near Mission in SF and tell me if all of the homeless you see there fell into their predicament from a lost job/medical emergency or if they smoked up their rent money.

It’s definitely a tricky thing to solve but throwing more at it isn’t the answer when a portion of folks homeless are there on their own accord/actions.

Actions got consequences.

It's definitely not working for us middle class stiffs either.
No shyt so I’m not sure what ur whining is about. Everyone needs help, the only people who get help are the ones who don’t need it, and use cocksuckers like Manchin, Sinema, Liberman etc to keep it that way.

I'm not whinning, I just don't agree.
I've watched billion$ thrown at homelessness in CA the last 5 years and the situation is worse - and no Republicans in sight to blame either.

California has the same kind of neoliberal issue the rest of the country does. If you want things to change vote for progressives who properly allocate those resources. There are better options, Americans annoy the fukk out of me with this "The neoliberals haven't done good things" NO shyt THEY'RE NEOLIBERALS.

the federal government needs to get back into building homes/apartments(of course Republicans banned it)

I think the biggest pieces of the puzzle are mental health/substance abuse/need for universal health care

feds/state need to be able to institutionalize people again (pretty sure that's on Republicans too), I've read some crazy articles about closures and their effect on nys and supposedly NY alone is short thousands of beds

op is retarded

that's all I got

First, I don't believe it is strictly about substance abuse and mental illness as much as you think. There are a lot of family units that are working and don't have a permanent address.
Working Homeless Population Grows in Cities Across the U.S.

However, there are a significant number of people who have mental and substance issues. So just giving them keys to a home isn't going to solve that. THere also needs to be more support for individuals who need extra help as well. So yes, why not do both? Your post seems to want to disgard those that have issues, when we should not be doing that.

You didn't read my post breh. I agree with you that we should always offer those services etc. My point is that even when they are offered (as in the case of the agency in Chicago I discussed), the overwhelming majority of the long term homeless population don't or can't take advantage. You gotta realize some of these ppl have been addicts or on the streets for literally decades. That's many decades/years of trauma, illness etc...the best therapist in the world would be hard pressed to be able to treat these people. We need to focus on helping them live as enjoyable an experience as possible. Eliminate the need for them to engage in dangerous/illegal/antisocial behavior just so they can get their next fix.

And that comes with being intentional and making a better effort to connect. So again, why not do both.

Those are platitudes breh.

In this country we like to delude ourselves into thinking we can save everyone if only we spend enough money/resources. It's definitely a starting point but we need to prioritize maximizing quality of life.
