lol once maybe? to be honest i've never been strong on the bench press at all

but on the flip side i do dumbbell presses with heavy weight on flat, incline & decline with no issues. i honestly think i have a mental block or even some fear when it comes to the bar which makes me sound lame

i have the same exact issues with squats, can't stand that bar on my neck even with padding or a fluffy towel. it really hurts me for some reason. so instead i do the leg press machine and a gang of dumbbell squats for my quads along with hella extensions squeezing on every rep. it works but deep down i know i'd really benefit from traditional benching & squats.. just can't do it though

I used to be just like you.
I wasn't really scared just never truly comfortable with it, going for both squat and bench. It's all in your mind tho I got over it by just saying fukk it im bout to start hitting these thangs. And thats what i did.
You can do it too.
And i think by doing dumbells and leg press if you go back and try the bars you'll feel more confident in it. Cause youre stronger than you realize

Yeah bruh, what your friends are all hardcore weightlifters or something?

:what:

Not saying that it's not possible, Im staying that 90+% of people can't lift their own weight
Ohh okay, I thought you was saying it like it was impossible. I don't think you have to be a hardcore lifter to be 155 and bench 225 but you might be right about most not being able to lift their own bodyweight thing.

Was at the gym 2 days ago and some nikka had 225 on there without clamping the weights on. The two on the right side slid right on off. I don’t know how e avoided it, but he’s lucky he didn’t get hurt.

I’m usually by myself, so I’m not trying to do no more than I can handle. 225 is my max, but I’m comfortably doing 185. I weigh 180 lbs

You not a lifter until you get the bar stuck on your chest and have to roll the weights off or have somebody get it off for you. It's embarrassing af tho :beli:

Ain’t nothing more of a pride killer than getting that bar stuck on your chest and having to get a struggle help out to get someone over.

I took a 3/4 month break from the gym after that, and it’s why I lift what I know I can handle easily by myself

Baby steps bro.

Just start with light weight and keep going.

With the squat, does your gym have the velcro padding?

That shyt works wonders, fr. Maybe the passing you used isn't as thick as that, but I don't feel nothing with that.

With bench, you really have to keep your form on point until it becomes 2nd nature.

I think bench might be the hardest press to learn.
