He ranked it his lowest in one of those pieces that dropped around Maga Carta or BP3, but it's clearly not, and he says because of BIG's death, and the reception of "Sunshine", it always left a bad taste.

The one where it's all the CD's stacked

Edit: he actually lists KC as his worst, and absurdly, has this below Magna Carta

Imagine if Vol. 1 had

Wishing On A Star
Only A Customer
In My Lifetime (remix)

subbed out for the Sauce Money track, and Who U Wit II, and that's Jay's classic.
If those songs were on there it might be my favorite rap album of All-Time

I love the Streets is Watching soundtrack it’s one of my favorite Jay releases. Love For Free, Murdergram all that :wow:

Im bumping it now because of this thread currently on Lucky Me :wow:

Intro/A Million And One Questions
In My Lifetime (Remix)
The City Is Mine
Imaginary Player
Streets Is Watching
Friend Or Foe 2
Lucky Me
Sunshine
Only A Customer
Where I'm From
You Must Love Me
Wishing On A Star

That's a pure classic, I think, maybe one or two songs short

I’m talking content

can I get a... is probably the only clubby record

hard knock life (content)
If I should die
Money cash hoes
Ride or die
R Dogs
It’s like that
Coming of Age
Jigga what
Paper chase

adding bonus records like it’s Alright & Money Ain’t don’t count

nikkas don’t listen to lyrics if they can’t tell these are street records. It’s not even a r&b feature on this album or any real singing on vol 2

Oh ok

The Booth is a weird place. Ya'll keep pushing this narrative that Vol. 2 was some bum album that nobody liked. In reality, that was huge album and was a huge moment period and I really didn't like "Hard Knock Life" the song at all, but this album was everywhere. It took Jay Z to superstardom. This album had album cuts that were as popular as some of the singles. I know ya'll like to go against the grain of music that actually moved units, but this was one of those cases where a quality album actually did sell. To top it all off, Vol. 2 wasn't even the best album that dropped that day. It was up against some classic albums.
Honestly, it was a great album for fad fans that jump from one to the other, for rap fans with bad taste, and for kids that only knew 2Pac and Fugees as hip hop artists and thought that a fukking Annie sample is the greatest thing that ever happened to hip hop

Vol 2 was mediocre at best. Uninspired beats, tons of bland dumbed-down lyrics, nonexistent concepts, lazy hooks galore

You right, Hard Knock Life should have gotten 5 :yeshrug:

Volume 3 is by far Jay worst album and the shyt ain't close. He tried to mix everything in there, doing songs for every coast but the shyt ain't work at all.
GTFOH, so many bland and/or uninspired cuts (If I Should Die, Ride Or Die, NWNW, Paper Chase, Reservoir Dogs, It's Like That...)
