Vol. 2 has "A Week Ago", to give it that weight, which was always, always, a favorite from the moment I heard it, because Jay spit so raw on it, the disgust just dripping in his tone, but it needed one more to close it out, along the lines of "Wishing On a Star", or "Where Have You Been". Jay was known for that always, the last track vulnerability
Reasonable Doubt: Regrets
In My Lifetime Vol. 1: You Must Love Me
Hard Knock Life Vol. 2: Money Ain't a Thing (though It's Like That, is close)
Vol. 3 There's Been a Murder/Come and Get Me/NYMP/HOVA song, no one can argue that
The Dynasty: Where Have You been
The Blueprint: Momma Loves Me
We're not going to get into BP2 and beyond lol
U wanna compare that to Where I'm From, You Must Love Me, RGCG, Lucky Me, Imaginary Player,Streets Is Watching???? GTFOH!
Terrible take. Maybe switch to Macarena and Mambo Nr 5 brahYou right, Hard Knock Life should have gotten 5
Volume 3 is by far Jay worst album and the shyt ain't close. He tried to mix everything in there, doing songs for every coast but the shyt ain't work at all.

My favorite Jay album, I don't think I heard until 1999, after I got Vol. 2, I heard "Sunshine", and "The City is Mine" and had to have this, even if I used my lunch money and change to buy a used copy.
Intro/A Million And One 5/5
The City is Mine 5/5
Imaginary Player 5/5
Streets Is Watching 5/5
Lucky Me 5/5
Where I'm From 5/5
You Must Love Me 5/5
I think that is his best work ever, on an album, just Jay at his essence, the hustler, before the larger than life persona, but the flossy and grimy Jay, the Versace swagger and most humane, regretful, I think it's his best work as an artist, with Reasonable Doubt second, and Vol. 2, third. I was barely 13 when I bought Vol. 2, so of course age plays into this, but to me, Jay's first three are his best. By far. The edges were sharper and the flossing was the Bad Boy era, which was always my favorite.
