Probably my most played jay z album
N I own allofum

The boy got a catalog

All my Source magazines was in pristine condition. Got tired of carrying them from apartment to apartment in my younger days.
Threw all them shyts away.

I gotta believe some of them issues are worth a pretty penny

This album is classic

I loved every single song on it

Jay-Z never rapped as good as he did before or after Vol.1

"Sunshine" is actually a good song the video was just one of the worst in rap history

After the reception this album got I don't blame Jay for dumbing himself down
His rapping on RD was far better.

It’s a very good album.

yeah I liked this album a lot

I bought it the day it came out. I was initially disappointed that it wasn’t as good as RD, but I eventually accepted it for what it is. My 3rd favorite Jay album behind RD & Blueprint.

I do understand the criticism though. The album sounded like it should have been released on Bad Boy.

The Booth is a weird place. Ya'll keep pushing this narrative that Vol. 2 was some bum album that nobody liked. In reality, that was huge album and was a huge moment period and I really didn't like "Hard Knock Life" the song at all, but this album was everywhere. It took Jay Z to superstardom. This album had album cuts that were as popular as some of the singles. I know ya'll like to go against the grain of music that actually moved units, but this was one of those cases where a quality album actually did sell. To top it all off, Vol. 2 wasn't even the best album that dropped that day. It was up against some classic albums.

Yeah, Vol. 2 was a really popular album.

I can vividly remember everyone I knew listening and loving Vol. 2 at the time.

People who were questioning Vol 2 are either way to young or not even born when that album hit. Let's put it this way.... the Jay-Z that we know today as the megastar would not even exist with that that album which is still I believe his most successful album to date. The 4.5 mics was on point due to how much that album in particular elevated his stature and secured him as the top rapper in hip hop.

Vol 1 hindered to which Jay-Z even admitted to trying to be too much like the Bad Boy shiny suit era. They were trying to mimic what Bad Boy was doing and it ended up being uneven. The main saving grace, in my opinion, is that's the album where Jay-Z was at his lyrical finest in comparison to any other time of his luxurious rap career.
