Speaking of which, Complex just recently hired a Black Woman (Nadeska Alexis from MTV) as a on-screen personality for their news reports on YouTube.

By my count, Complex now have 4 black people who do the News Reports for thier YouTube channel.

Okay, so that's just for their youtube. Which is pretty much just putting out black people out there for show to cover the fact they barely have any black people at a publication that primarily covers black culture behind the scenes.

It means very little in retrospect.

Well black people "own" the art.

However, black people generally don't own media outlets or the many ways to distribute music to the public.
Don't worry though, the VAST, VAST majority of white people don't either and they still toil
away making their country, rock, metal etc. undeterred.

Not when they have label heads telling them when they can release their "own" art.

Black music doesn't just take place on "major labels", if you think that's the only place you can come up on Black artists
that was your first mistake.

Even then this isn't a result of "White people owning *insert genre here*" but an artist being
an employee of a COMPANY that's looking to make MONEY and when they sign that contract
they give up several rights/powers in exchange for funding and exposure they otherwise
would never get.
This happens to "White" artists as well, why ? Because the primary motivation is to hit certain
demographics and make money.
