You dont give a fukk that magazines/websites that heavily feature black artists and cover black culture heavily have next to no black people on their staff?

That's cool. These people figured out a long time ago that all you need to do is trot out some black faces for black people to ignore the racism within their own companies. Obviously you fell for the Okey doke.

The majority of us on this forum have not.

nikka i was here, i was here in 2008 visiting complex everyday. When they were covering the future, the black artists who were original and today are leaders of the culture, most influential in this generation, and artists who are sucessful.

Lets go back to 2008-2009.

Who the fukk was complex covering. What the fukk was complex doing. I guarantee alot of you nikkaz wasnt even fukkin with complex 8 to 9 years ago, gtfoh man.

You went on complex.com in those times, they were covering J.Cole, Kid Cuddi, Drake, Wale, Big Sean, Wiz, Currensy, Blu, Charles Hamilton, and all these up and coming nikkaz who were on the internet.

You go to complex they covering fashion, whats the lastest trends, what stores can you get the latest fashion trends, theyre covering culture. Not just of black people, but of this new wave that was coming in.

They put in the work back then and now consistently to become the prominent media outlet and platform it is today. Not only did they put in the work, but they wasnt sloppy, not giving nikkaz quality presentation. Presentation is everything and back in 2008-2009, in my opinion as a nikka who was like 14 years old back then and saw this shyt become what it became everyday. In my opinion, them nikkaz had the best, the hardest, the coldest presentation in the internet game. They did so much, contributed so much content, They were a blog who revolutionized the blog game, and made sure they kept on evolving with the the times.

I dont go on complex everyday, or prolly havent gone there in months, cuz thats not how i consume shyt no more. So idk how they do things like that no more. But im not gonna despute your argument of them probably not covering the newest black underground artist yall want them to cover lol.

I grew up on this shyt man, seen shyt from day one as a yit comin up, back in 2008 when i was 13 or 14, so im passionate about it cuz a nikka lived this shyt forreal. Im not one of you old ass 30+ year old nikkaz who started fukking with the internet like 5 years ago, and just found out about complex and are kind of begining to understand how this shyt work.

My nikka i been on the internet since i was like 10-11 years old. I really grew up on this shyt. I understand the game in a way some of ya nikkaz wont.

What about forbezdvd, doggiediamonds, they was around, same timeframe, same era, covering artists or w.e. But them nikkaz quality, vision, and presentation was wack ass hell. Alot of these small black media platforms and outlets lacked vision, quality, and presentation, and thats why people whether black, white, indian, spanish, whatever the fukk, would never fukk with it or support it, cus it was wack my nikka.

Stop complaining and step ya shyt up, step ya game the fukk up. Some of these nikkaz never wanna hear that, they want support, they want sucess, just because they are doing something or they feel they doing something, but the life game dont work like that my manz. U gotta go hard or go home.

Yall wanna support black platforms that support majority of black artist or black culture. Why i dont see ya nikkaz talking about Revolt, they got amazing quality and presentation and are steadily growing with their identity as platform. They supporting the black artist, they putting in work. But i dont see ya nikkaz supportin, i see ya nikkaz clowin, talking shyt.

Complex was never a black only platform, outlet, blog, or whatever the fukk you wanna call it. They started out covering what was going on, they was platform for all the shyt that was considered hipster kind of.

Im not accepting the hate for complex, not only cuz i grew up seeing these nikkaz do theyre thing and give us something different. But because these nikkaz put in the work to be the prominent global outlet they are today.

I'll be upset with the fact that nikkaz arent creating theyre own visionary, quality-presentation platform with good content, than white people doing white people shyt.

why ya nikkaz not supporting merry jane right now, by snoop. Hes creating his own complex type shyt, but for weed. But he still covers artists on there. Merry jane has quality, a vision, and amazing presentation.

My thing is, i see ya nikkaz rather hate and complain on the game, than support and be a part of change. Thats something that i will never be with. That hating shyt is played out man.

Read my article yall.

It did well the last two weeks, but I feel like it could do better. Not for me, but for the issue.

Not to mention I pretty much made myself persona non grata at many of the fragile publications I mentioned
DOPE read.

Dead @ this cac complex writer in here pretending to be black online to defend profiting off black culture but not hiring NO nikkaS shut the entire fukk up you moron. Bragging about being 14 in 2009 and not knowing any better

As soon as I read that i stopped taking that dude seriously.

:mjlol: he obviously salty we called his ass out and his beloved publication. And he trying to justify why thwy dont hire black pwople like that on some...."i dont give a fukk what color you are..." bs. Obviously the people running the show at complex do care about color. Enough to have two black people there, and to hire their white buddies and their white girls they want to fukk...that dude needs to shut the entire fukk up. They made a platform using black culture to proliferate the corporate good ole boys club. fukk him and Marc Ecko.

:mjlol:

I don't think you understand how difficult it is to get your foot in the door in media, especially journalism, as a Black person. The people that are typically hired by the Buzzfeed's and Complex's come from backgrounds where they can afford to waste time and money on a journalism degree. These people often go to the elite journalism schools which are given preferential treatment when it comes to recruiting. The few Black people that are in these programs have to work harder and are often given the short end of the stick, at least on campus when it comes to building your resume. You're already behind the 8 ball. Its the reason why there are very few Black people in sports media despite sports being filled with Black bodies. Journalism has a huge diversity problem that the industry chooses to ignore. Its quite ironic that the Buzzfeed's and HuffPo's of the world cover SJW topics and do a complete 180 when it comes to hiring and leveling the playing field.

We can start our own outlets, but without the funding how can we compete? Doesn't matter if the content is good. You need the backing to get it out there. If you don't see it as an issue that Complex got their start by appropriating Black culture and then not giving back by having representation from that demographic, then do you because I can't change your mind.
