How long do you think Blu Ray's will last before we replace them with something else?

no way breh :pachaha:

there are varied transfer quality though. some bluray transfers are done better than others. pixar is a company that does their bluray transfers flawlessly. probably because it's easier to do with digital films, but their bluray movies like Wall-E are gorgeous and you're only going to get that experience from a blu-ray disc or a non-compressed full blu-ray rip.

I said "many". not all or most. newer movies are more likely to have an HD source. especially something like pixar movies. but many blu rays of older movies are basically an upscaled dvd

When you buy digital you will never truly own your movie. What if Vudu shuts down one day? You're short out of luck.

I’m on the fence with this, I got tons of Blurays. But I’m seeing more titles coming to 4K discs. Then after this it’s on to 8K movies and new players/television sets that will support theformat.

Feels like a never ending cycle :wow:

I've started to replace my entire DVD collection now with Blu Ray's.How long do you think it will be before i have to replace the Blu Ray's?10 years?5?Are they already working on a successor to the Blu Ray?
Nah Blu Ray us the last disc based format we will have. Going to be all digital after this. Maybe another decade, could be longer. 4K Blu Ray is all the rage now. Gonna pick up that Sony 4k Blu Ray player to go with my 4k HDR tv. Each time a new resolution comes out they will just add an extra layer to the Blu Ray disc and only the newest hardware can run it. You can't put 4k Blu Ray into a regular Blu Ray player for example. The next step is 8k. Youll need to purchase a new Blu Ray player for that. And another when we move to 16k. The human eye can't see beyond 16kso hopefully that's where it will stop :francis:

4K Blu-ray is the shyt, I went all digital HD for the past 2 years. I’m going to stop and go back back to 4K Blu-ray, the picture quality and sound quality is so much better than streaming.

This is why ima chill out with buying so many Blu rays... it’s eventually gonna turn into shyt like DVDs. 8-10 years from now it’s gonna be about that 8K life.

I don't think 8K is going to catch on.

Internet speeds in the US are shyte because ISPs are not giving us all they can.
