How effed up is it that almost the most important decision in life is made at age 17?

I couldn't agree more...
yea. i'd say you should make that type of decision between 25 and 30. about a full decade beyond the time that society basically forces you to make the decision. it's a trap. they want you to be an indentured servant for your life. chained to the machine.

Its all part of the plan.

School is one of the biggest scams of all time. and I have a bachelors degree.

I keep saying that and people want to kill me off like Malcolm X for that shyt. These schools are charging students too damn much and wan to be financial slaves for the rest of their lives.

that doesn't mean its a scam, it just means you have to be careful and do what you can afford

its not anymore of a scam than car loan or a mortgage

No, you're getting killed for it because it's a senseless conspiracy theory way of explaining things. If you would say, "People end up becoming financial slaves because the way things are designed" then you would have more sympathetic people. But you imply some kind of grand plot to keep everyone as indentured servants with a system was originally only beneficial to well off in society, and still benefits people with equity more so than anyone else. Yeah, you're going to get a push back if your argument lacks nuance like that. Same with @Lavish, every thing is a plan by "the man." :smh:

stop defend these schools for charging more of tuition rates ever damn year. The administrations are making 110X the profit they made 20 years ago and people defend that fukkery. We need people that can make a good living in all different majors in America. Hell, that was the main reason why America was so successful for the last 30 years of the 20th century. Diversity in the workforce is needed, cause not everyone can be IT or a Banker.

It's not even fair how much they charge for a tuition these days, and a lot of the degrees people get don't even guarantee them jobs, they have to go back and get a post-graduate degree (and where's the money gonna come from that especially if you're working full time or you have kids to raise or something). It's an absolute financial burden and every year the rates get higher, some people don't even qualify for certain financial assistance/loans anyway so they can't even pay for or go to school. It's so fukked up.

If you're 18 I'd suggest doing a certificate program (it's hands on, on the job training, you get a certificate, it's less than a year and you can go back to school w/o as big of a financial burden and you pretty much can get a job to support yourself and get some real world experience). Heck, I wouldn't have done my post grad if my job didn't pay my tuition.

Its simple. Its a way for you to never be financially free. Even if you get that good paying job, you will be paying bills and never have time for anything else. People gotta think outside the box if they want to prosper.

that doesnt make it a scam, it just means its an issue that needs to be worked out, and it just means you need to be careful about the choices you make just like any other financial decision like buying a car or a house

Lets be serious, how will you know at age 18? Or even 21? Or hell, 25? The economy and education changes so fast that shyt will go to hell. You can hardly plan for these things in life. Buying a house or a car, you have time. AN education? Not so much. People rush you from 9th grade to go to college ASAP after you cross that stage from high school. You hardly have time to do proper research when you spend so much time getting good grades and doing extracurricular activities.

its always been like that, what has changed is the huge increase in tuition, but an no time in modern american history has it been normal for college students to graduate debt free, you shouldn't try to move the goal posts and misconstrue the issue, college will never be free

rising tuition is a an issue, and people need to be more careful just like when you are buying anything else

That is a shame in itself for a first world nation to go through that shyt. One day when the bubble burst and people fine out that these administrators been scamming the public, the truth will be known and how everyone been duped.

I want college to be affordable and where people can actually live a better lifestyle like 40 years ago. Not being in debt and people sucking money away from you.
