I went to private elemetary and public high .... My wife did the same.
Our kids are in private now and my wife is a public school teacher ... Living in NYC its private all the way. All the damn bad kids in public, at least in private if you too bad they put you out.

And since my wife is a teacher I get to hear and see all the behind the scenes crap and the NYC public school sytem is corrupt and political. If we were in another state/city then public school would be an option but here ....... Its private all the way until college.

good thing they gave her the 1st grade bilingual class so she only gotta deal with little 6 yr olds. if they had given her 6th graders it would not have gone well for her.

Your girl gonna have to deal with soem bad ass kids.. trust me... Kindergarten isnt manditory and alot people dont send there kids to school until 1st grade. That mean 1/4 of her class will have no school experience at all and will have a time adjusting.
But with the kids being 6, you gotta watch for those 22 yr old ratchet mothers talking about their baby an angel

yea its still gonna be a challenge for her but not as bad as it would have been with the 12 and 13 yr olds. her new coworkers have even already schooled her on dealing with parents cause there are some pretty ratchet ass parents that have kids in that school. n she is dealing with bilingual kids fresh from dr, mexico, pr etc etc and those can be some pretty ratchet and ignorant parents also.

Kids in private school aren't as humble either. More stuck up, I remember one kid in my class made the teacher literally cry in front of all of us as he berated her with insults, and then flung his shyt all over the guys bathroom.

On top of that he was suspended before that for TAKING A shyt ON A DESK IN CLASS.

it's gonna happen seeing as to they will be forced to go to religion classes, mass, and shown a different point of view

:manny: I went to Catholic school and came out unscathed. I'd say let them get exposed to it and make their own call.

Wishful thinking out be to send them to a school that is like the black panther schools from the 90s, but realistically maybe a left-field magnet/public school

I'd try to put them in a good public school. I don't believe in home schooling cause kids need to learn how to socialize as well. I've been in private schools and public, there's f*cked up students everywhere you go. You gotta teach ur kids at home about how to deal with peer pressure and drugs and all that.

I would try to get a good public school that's not too hood tho. I went to a hood school for 2 years of my life and I didn't learn shyt. There was all kinds of fights and sometimes we went for a couple of months without teachers and shyt. The 2nd year we didn't have music class the whole year cause no teachers were available. We also went 6 months without a maths teacher. One of the teachers got beat up by an angry parent  He was a prick tho, he probably deserved that shyt.

So in conclusion, private or a good public school is a good choice if u don't want ur kid to get left behind.

My kids will go to public schools. In my state you are required to take the standards of learning test (sols) at the end of the yr. you must pass. So teachers focus hard on making sure students can pass. Therefore they learn well. As far as bullying and safety goes I will tear into the teachers ass and principals if my child is being bullied.
