How do y'all get your protein in?

This stuff is harsh on kidneys. A family member downed these regularly and his kidneys malfunctioned. Thus he died at the age of 19. He was a gym rat.

Did he have any preexisting conditions? I know an extreme excess of protein is bad for the kidneys but there’s been thousands of body builders that have been drinking those heavy protein mass gainer shakes for months at a time
