I remember The Score as being inescapable in '96. "Killin' Em Softly", "Ready or Not" and "Fugee-La" were everywhere. Even though it sampled some huge Pop, R&B, and Hip Hop classics, the overall sound was underground. It was like an underground Hip Hop album that went Pop. For an album as massively successful as The Score, the production on the album wasn't polished or glossy. It's definitely a classic album.

That's almost every album ever released. The singles are most likely going to be the most talked about songs from an album. Singles are like a point of reference because it's what most are going to be familiar with even if they don't know the album.

You dont get it. Those are the ONLY songs talmed about. Real bonafide classics have famous non singles. Like doggystyle AEOM matw RTD lad BP1 etc etc

This is true! :salute:

Look at these albums:
- Low End Theory (Excursions, Buggin' Out)
- Illmatic (NYSOM, Memory Lane, One Love, Represent)
- Liquid Swords (4th Chamber, Duel of the Iron Mic, Investigative Reports)
- OB4CL (Incarcerated Scarfaces, Guillotines, Verbal intercourse, etc.)
- Ready to Die (Machine Gun Funk, Gimme the Loot, Everyday Struggle)
- Supreme Clientele (Apollo kids, Nutmeg, One, Mighty healthy)
- Stillmatic (Ether, You're Da Man, intro, etc.)
- Cold Vein (Pigeon, A-B-Boys Alpha, Stress Rap)
etc. etc.

Good Kid mAAd City is gonna be one of these too. Money Trees, Art of Peer Pressure, Good Kid, Maad City, Dying of Thirst are all great. I feel like Money Trees is already more talked about then Swinmming Pools.

blunted on reality was better to me for what its worth.

It depends on who you are talking to. There's people that only talk about the singles to those albums as well.

Nonsense. I see the pont you're trying to make but NAW ive nevr heard ANYONE bumping or discussing non single cuts from that album and i was out here. I turned 17 me and my bro was whipping, hitting malls had jobs etc no one discussed. Ive heard non singles mentioned and bumped as much as singles from every album i listed. Dont play stupid. I dealt with a variation of people. And that album as a whole was nothing

That's your own personal observation of the album though. That speaks nothing of what other people outside of you and your circle discussed. I mean, one of Lauryn's most praised verses is from a song that wasn't a single ("Zealots"). There's also the fact that three songs being memorable from any album is quite a feat whether they were singles or not.
