From what i remembered they were able to neutralize Gasol and Bynum. Bynum might have been playing injured and i think Kobe was as well

it still is amazing to me that dallas run that year. they really was sniping teams out coming back from deficits all post season. when they swept the lakers, i said man they taking it all. the thing is you can't really say it was a fluke cause they didn't get pushed to 7 games in any series at all. they handled business, i thought they was gonna beat miami cause they swept them that regular season. cats expected miami to run over them but i knew that wasn't happening. bron coulda played better but dallas had answers for everything any team did that playoffs even a young thunder team with kd, russ and harden.
that team was really built for that run, i would have loved to see them return to defend their title, but cuban got stupid and broke them hoping to free up cap room for dwight and deron williams.
the funny thing is i still kinda felt the lakers would come back cause i still didn't trust dallas- but they was too worn down. i can see kobe wanted it but dallas was hungrier as a whole. plus the lakers had to work hard to beat new orleans in the 1st rd, didn't look good for future rounds

Lol, this is exactly what happened.The 2011 Mavs were the first pace-and-space team. That Mavs team truly started the modern NBA, not the big 3 Heat or the Warriors.
They spread the floor and destroyed the Lakers with the 3 ball. Meanwhile the Lakers were still walking the ball up the floor and running the triangle.
The Mavs made 49 three-pointers that series. The Lakers made 15.
The 2 time defending champion Lakers got swept off the floor with their slow-paced halfcourt offense. It was truly the changing of the guard and ushering in of the new era.
From these posts it looks like the Lakers got swept because they didn’t hit their shots
