How could "True Detective" have had such a massive falloff?

You mean the weekly million-plus ratings while going up against MNF unlike season 1?:camby:
If thats the lie you want to tell yourself :yeshrug:
The ratings have fallen from season 1 to 2. You can make excuses but generally when people like a show that doesnt happen.

I think s1 is way better than s2. Maybe the general world agrees :yeshrug:

There were too many characters in season 2. The actors were fine, but the writing and their character development was all over the place.

For example - gay Riggins's self-hating gayness was an unneeded, unnecessary detour to nowhere. Every single thing that happened because of him could've been handled by someone else and freed up hours to explore the main storyline. Instead, we had to watch him have random, ultimately meaningless encounters with various people that had no payoff.

It's like reading a book by a decent author who refuses to get a good editor. It would've been much better if someone made Nic tightened up the story and cut out 65% of the meaningless nonsense.

taylor kitschs character should have been written out altogether and it needed 1-2 rewrites. Their was a really good show in there,it just needed more time in the oven.

I am one of the only people alive that liked Season Two. I thought they all hit high marks acting wise. The plot was a little out there. A lot of complications seemed for no reason. With almost NO payoff at the end kind of left you gutted.

Edit: Yeah, Taylor's character wasn't needed at all. He did well in that spot, but it seems like they were just using him for the star power.

Absolutely loved season1. I have season 2 on my Plex server.... Watched the first episode two months ago. Was :francis:

Re watched the first episode again last week so I can start on the series. Was still dry. I had no push to watch more. I will give episode 2 a shot simply cause season 1 was brilliant. Hope I'm not disappointed.:manny:

I think a lot of people went into s2 wanting to hate it because harrelson and matt were gone, and they didnt like vaughn or colin. just look up the news to their castings, people wanted to hate it. its not as good as s1,not even close, but it was still decent and it definitely got better as it went along. i thought the last like 3 episodes were fukking great. its just a very dense season with too many moving parts and characters and it gets a little convoluted. The pay off was great, personally.

I think a lot of people liked s2,but the haters of it were deafingly loud and drowned out the people that did. I mean, its got a 61% on metacritic and a 65% RT score with a 62% audience score. Its not like it was universally hated.

Not nearly as liked as s1,but not as hated as some people would have you believe.

I haven't watched season 2 and have almost no desire to since Harrelson and McConaughey aren't invovled. The cast itself just looked so :scust: by comparison.
No Harrelson & McConaughey in season 2? :stopitslime::camby:
guess season 1 will be the only one i watch :birdman:

A friend that works in Hollywood said Vince was freestyling all those lines....:dead: I don't know if thats true, or if he read that somewhere, or heard it around, but it's hilarious to think of Vince just coming on the set spewing that nonsense lol

I highly doubt he was freestyling the lines but if this is true they don't respect the audience.
Velcoro Oh, frankly...I'm apoplectic.

Semyon: I'm feeling a little apoplectic myself.
You're telling me you guys didn't like that exchange? :lolbron:
