How could "True Detective" have had such a massive falloff?

You can't go darker than the first season

You can, but they need to say :manny: and just steal from Lovecraft, Ligotti, etc. out right. A bunch of that stuff is public domain now (well, not Ligotti, but Lovecraft and Chambers are, which is why he was able to throw around Carcosa, The Yellow King, etc.)

On some "Kill List" shyt.

I loved season 1. When I heard all the changes being made for season 2 (pivotal main actors as well as Cary Fukunaga leaving) I knew the rare dynamic would be lost. I never even bothered to watch season 2.

Vaughn? n Colin Farrell with weird mustache......HARD PASS

Season 1 was fukking terrible season 2 is better cause it probably more realistic :yeshrug:
If you're referring to the occult shyt that goes on in season 1, yes that stuff does happen in real life. To me that's what made season 1 shine over the second, those Lovecraftian elements that created an unsettling feeling. There were times throughout the season where you felt like whatever Marty and Rust found, there was still something more to it. Seriously thought both were gonna be dead in the finale.

Nic and hopefully his writers focus on two main characters this time. With four characters it just felt all over the place.

Season 1 had an amazing acting job from MMc and an amazing directing job from Fukanawa on all the episodes. Woody was fine, but you don't even remember him. The shyt fizzled in the finale. it was overrated outside of the things i mentioned. I didn't watch season 2 though.

Seriously, I was saying Fargo season 1 was better than TD season 1, and at this point, we can definitely say which is the far superior show overall
