How come nobody cared about Lil Wayne promoting violence at age 15?

the internet rap community was huge in 1997.

No it wasn't. You are either suffering from a lack of memory or werent even online yourself then.

The number of people online in 1997, let alone the people who even owned a computer, is TINY compared to now. People were not spending hours talking and arguing about Hip Hop when people were still paying for the Internet by the hour in 97 or had free hours from AOL/Prodigy/etc. They were also dialing up to the Internet tying up phone lines and it wasn't exactly cheap to have a separate phone line just to get on the Internet.

It wasn't 'big' by any means. I was actually on the Internet at the time and there was very few people using it to chat about Hip Hop.

:stopitslime:

i was indeed on the internet back then. and there were plenty of hip-hop message boards with heavy traffic. obviously, you just didnt know what sites were poppin. leave it at that.

just because it wasnt as big as it is now, doesnt mean it wasnt big back then. you can say the same thing about the internet 5-10 years ago. was SOHH not big? AHH? 360?

in fairness, i dont recall reading about the hot boys on the internet in '97. but by 1999, BG, turk & wayne were the same ages as lil reese, lil jojo, chief keef, etc and way bigger than those chicago youngns will ever be. yet, their ages were never an issue.

At the time, most of the people on this forum weren't a day over 10, if that. We were children.

You expect children to speak against something at the time, we didn't know was going on and if we did, we didn't have the mental capacity to analyze or comprehend?

I know they say there's no such thing as a stupid question, but the thread title and opening post proves otherwise. Of course people cared, but those people don't post here. They're 40 years old. Do better next time.

correct me if im wrong but i dont think the OP is referring to just this board.

either way, what im saying is that aside from the backlash that street rap gets in general, there was no backlash against the young artists back in the day. and im not referring to the viewpoint of 10 year old fans when i say this.
