Everyone has a different trajectory for anything in life
He might never take it there or he might take it there on his next project...

He makes 2000s R&B
he’s very good at what he does but his style of music doesn’t have much mainstream appeal
he’s about as big as you expect someone to be with his style
and y’all have to remember that rappers don’t have R&B features anymore so these singers are only appealing to R&B fans
Everyone in this thread just drive-by criticizing Jacquees for remixing other artists' hits for his mixtapes are just indirectly admitting they don't actually bother to check for his original music.
That's a good ass point. A lot of Jacquees' original music sounds like 2000's R&B. Which is why I like his music, but it definitely stands out as being dated compared to mainstream urban music nowadays.
The interesting thing is despite Jacquees' music often being a throwback to 2000's R&B, he's a complete non-factor on Urban AC radio. Just checked his billboard chart history & the only time Jacquees has charted on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart is Donell Jones's current "Karma remix" single which Jacques is featured on along with 3 other late 90's-early 00's male R&B singers.
not every artist is gonna be a Chris Brown, or even Trey Songz level.
There is a lane for a C-List type R&B
Your opinion of his singing ability has nothing to do with his careerHe can't sing.
There’s a lane for him to eat well. CM has completely dropped the ballSigning to cash money early in his career
I like him he can’t sing but I kinda like his vibe .Cash money is washed and not a label for r&b
he’s short and not very cute so there goes the sex appeal bump
his style doesn’t match the dark moody inarticulate r&b vibe nor does he do the “nasaly, weird inflection to sound more neo souly” thing people like SZA, summer walker, and Khalid do
