Outside of making himself look foolish with that king of r&b schtick & signing to a washed label that's not known for r&b, it's not completely his fault.
The genre is at the lowest it's ever been commercially & diversity wise. Its completely dominated with alternative r&b.
Artists that are looking to make traditional r&b music will not pop in these times unfortunately.
I think Jacquees has hit his ceiling tho & funny thing is he doing a lot better than a lot of his male peers.
I be seeing dudes in his age bracket like Jacob latimore that cant catch a break, but would've popped if it was mid 00s 106&park era.
The days of r&b artists hitting usher/chris brown levels of success is over.
With the genre stagnated & more emergence of rappers singing songs themselves expect lower peaks from r&b artists moving forward.
Are you specifically talking about male R&B?
even someone like lucky daye would’ve been much bigger 10 years ago
The sad truth is that there is not much demand for male singers in the mainstream.people prefer rappers and rap is so diverse now you get everything when you click on a rap playlist
Lost At Sea one of the best tapes of the past 5 years
