Outside of making himself look foolish with that king of r&b schtick & signing to a washed label that's not known for r&b, it's not completely his fault.
The genre is at the lowest it's ever been commercially & diversity wise. Its completely dominated with alternative r&b.
Artists that are looking to make traditional r&b music will not pop in these times unfortunately.
I think Jacquees has hit his ceiling tho & funny thing is he doing a lot better than a lot of his male peers.
I be seeing dudes in his age bracket like Jacob latimore that cant catch a break, but would've popped if it was mid 00s 106&park era.
The days of r&b artists hitting usher/chris brown levels of success is over.
With the genre stagnated & more emergence of rappers singing songs themselves expect lower peaks from r&b artists moving forward.
