I don't know why y'all expect hip-hop music from cats who aren't hip-hop.

That's the thing, IMO it's not that we look for hip-hop in them, it's the fact they're being labeled "hip-hop" artist when in fact they shouldn't even be labeled rap. They should be label what they are and stick to that genre

Hip-hop has become just a means to an end for these "artists". nikkas rap for women, attention, and validation with no regard or interest in the artform of rapping. With the amount of money hip-hop generates, rappers have just shifted from musicians to salesmen. Hip-hop will be fine tho, the estrogen enrichment of rap will not keep young artists from giving us great music. Even if the great material isnt comin frequently as we like :wow:

You dont even know how the music was to say whether it was better or worse, so what are you talking about?

My first CD was The Chronic nikka. What was yours? Thank Me Later? Thats a good 20 years family. 20 fukking years head start. Anywhere else, that shyt counts. If I was at a company for 20 years, or in a city for 20 years, or doing some hobby for 20 years, as a new dude you'd put some weight on my opinion. But in hip hop, its like, if you are a old head w/anything bad to say about what's new, you're out of touch or hating. Get the fukk out of here. These new dudes are cornballs, PERIOD. And I have a library of artists and musics to compare them to to prove it. Don't get mad at me cause you don't know any better than whats hot now and are too lazy to look through the history of the music you listen to.

Dr. Dre and Snoop dogg would be considered fake as fukk if they came out in today's era.

That the thing. Your Rap heros did not have to deal with blogs, twitter etc. Searching for and trying to drag every single skeleton out of their closet.

I honestly dont believe a lot of the rappers yall look up to as super heros would survive in this era.

You make a good point.

Although Eazy exposed Dre and Snoop as being studio gangsters, and nobody gave a shyt.

The sole reason they exist is to make as much money as possible,as easily as possible, they're not a charitable organization trying to enrich our culture. Yea we can say things should be that way, but this is not the way things work unfortunately. You gotta sift thru all the bullshyt 2 find the gems.

Weezy and the rest of these cats need their music sittin on the shelf next to katy perry and miley cyrus. Pop music parading as hip-hop has been relevant for over a decade now, marketing schemes and labeling does not cloak intentions

Are you stupid?

People were doing that on radio and in magazines and get this, a good portion of rumors about rappers/producers/personalities from that era begun on the internet in the 90's.

You saying that the rappers of yesteryear wouldn't survive this era is stupid, as I've just witnessed a man kiss another man, a B.I.G. tribute act who swears blind that Noriega owes them a hundred favors, and rappers who refer to themselves as a pretty bytch, and word to Juice that's just the tip of the iceberg.

So what do you mean that they wouldn't survive this era, coupled with their talent and actual hip hop sensibilities they'd eat more than these guys out now.

Oh i know trust me, it's just another way the media manipulates these kids minds. A decade and a half ago, all the boys wanted to be thugs and the girls wanted to be respected.
Fast toward to this era, all these lil boys want to be fashionistas, hipsters and captain-save-a-hoe.
And the females smh they all over the place, but still can't be respected
