To be honest tho. If Dr.Dre came out in this era. He would of gotten Rick Ross treatment real quick. Dre aint about that life at all. And he doesnt even have the lyrical skill to make nikkas ignore that.
A lot of the problem is the stupid fans

A lot of the problem is the 24/7 news cycle artists volunteer themselves to.

Think about all the embarassment that could have been saved by rappers not signing up for Twitter. Its unneccessary. The only way a rapper should be connecting with fans is through the music.

But a big part of the problem w/fans is also not checking for shyt "before their time". I was born in 83 but I still checked for shyt in the 80s once I was old enough, just to see where the shyt came from. Kids today are embarrassed to listen to anything that isn't new, even though it was objectively better

*pictures Drake coming out in the mid-90s*
*Tuna sandwich vid surfaces*
*gets sonned to Bolivia by Pac, Big, etc*
*quits rap and goes back to TV*
To be fair, there was no Youtube or Twitter or message board for stuff like that to spread. For all we know, had Drake come out in the 90s he might have been the Canadian Nas

If you EVER took hip hop serious, then you probably haven't accomplished much in life.

I love hip hop with all my heart, but lets keep it funky fam, the shyt is just music.

I think some of you nikkas are just SCARED to blast the music that you do like in your whips because you're afraid someone might think you arn't "cool", or some shyt.

If you like that old school shyt, then blast it. Stop worrying about a generation that has nothing to do with your old ass.

You nikkas always tryna tell someone whats cool and whats not. Be your self and stop worryin about what other people think. Thats what was wrong with our generation (90s). We were too cool to do ANYTHING.

Ol' I take everthing serious ass nikkas. :smh:

Stop mean muggin :birdman: nikkas in the club, grab a bytch and start :mj:.

:old: minded ass nikkas.

Grow up.

Just music fam? I mean, if you have no interests in the arts and don't see their importance, shyt, you're entitled to not give a fukk. New rappers today are way more overly emotional and aggressive, even the soft ones. The main complaint about hip-hop today is the quality of the music. You cannot honestly tell me hip-hop is as interesting today as it was back then, other genres constantly pump out crazy amounts of quality material while hip-hop is regressing. The genre is just in a weird place right now, effeminate aggression paired with dyke raps

Aye, I agree with everything in this thread. Past few days at work I was listening to BBC's rap station (UK radio) stream and I gotta say there was so much more variety. Variety of sounds, artists, styles, topics, it was like dude was actually taking chances and people were open to it. Entertainment/media in general out here right now is super watered down. That's what happens when there's basically centralized control in every major media industry, you get this cookie cutter, monkey see monkey do bullshyt. I'm ashamed of it.

yup

Suge Knight who said that Dre was playing Atari whiles real hood n!ggas were out in the streets :bustback:

Ice Cube was getting tested by real G's after he did the movie Boyz in the Hood and he'd always back down and say "that wasnt me..It was just a movie". Also didn't rapper Kam (west coast rapper) KO Cube in the middle of traffic at an intersection and take his neck chain?

Ice T's pimp credentials were questioned

Snoop in the early death row days moved to some new neighbourhood and was getting bullied on his block and when he finally had enough his bodyguard committed a murder which he got tried for and beat the case.
