Most of mainstream rap is a joke. To be fair, twitter, facebook, and social media has placed a magnifying glass on todays artist. Back then a lot of rappers had an air of mystery to them. Now people get exposed all over the net. We get to see rappers out of the character they portray in the studio. Names are named. Before it was subliminal cause no one wanted to get blackballed.

If Ross existed in the 90's would we have known about his past as a CO? I don't think so cause every one in the game would've just ate off payola from his label.

BTW if anyone wants current dope hip-hop check out Fashawn. Can't believe I slept.:snoop:

Black music as a whole has lost its soul...we've been around white people too long and we now too make souless music....the soul came from the struggle....nikkkas done been made to believe their ain't no more struggle....rappers don't have to be about that life, but rappers at least use to be street nikkas to the point they had game and u could tell they wuz out there, nikkas nowadays don't know nothin firsthand and just regurgitate shyt they heard in rap songs over the years...that's y u get no new perspectives on anything...same ol flips of the same ol ideas and lines from years past,no evolution of the black experience and thought proccess....instead we've taken on the white experience and our now stealing white pop culture.

And another thing, don't u miss when rapperscame in the game oblivious to business? I know it led to a lot of nikkas gettin jerkd in the past but fuk that....every new nikka in the game now comes into it talkin about they damn "brand":laff:...ya brand nikka? U ain't did shyt yet and u thinkin about your brand instead of thinkin about ya music...first time I hear a nikka say "brand" I already know his aim is to appeal to the most people and sellout immediately.

Hov's been calling this shyt WWE since after the next wave of disses after he and NaS finished. The parallels are even more apparent if you know the inner workings of wrestling. Hip Hop is so...blatantly coordinated.

jay is the one who tried to pull a macho/hogan/liz or candido/hbk/bret/sunny situation.

so him trying to deflect like his battle was some clash of two honorable samuraii's is bullshyt, too.

jay/nas is when rap became wwf in the mainstream to the gateway fan.

to usher in the bs we have to tolerate as consumers now.

And we accept any rapper that the mainstream shoves down our throats against our will and we don't know when to draw the line. i.e. mac miller
