Firing McDermott would be a risky move, you would have to know that you have a better coach incoming. He's resurrected a franchise that went 18 years consecutively missing the playoffs, and in 7 years he's won the division 4x, made the playoffs 6x, won an average of 10.4 games/year. He's a really, really good head coach but his fatal flaw is overthinking himself in critical moments. He just can't beat the Chiefs, but the Chiefs can--->and have---->been beaten...
Allen is destined to become this era's Rivers it seems, just can't beat the great teams in his conference to even get to a Super Bowl (because they couldn't beat the Bengals last year either). His play style, you gotta think he only has a few more years left of this high end play, unless he completely alters his approach to The Game...
In a way, I feel sorry for the Bills. During the Patriots run you had other AFC franchises that had championship success. The Steelers got to 3 Super Bowls during the Pats Dynasty, won 2. The Colts and Broncos on the strength of Manning, each got to 2 Super Bowls, won 1 apiece. The Ravens won a Super Bowl and at the end the Chiefs won it. It's not like the Patriots won 18 championships in a row...
Just like that, the Chiefs haven't, and won't, win 18 Super Bowls in a row. They have real competition in conference, we know the Cincinnati Bengals are a real challenger. We'll find out next week if Baltimore is a real in-conference challenger to KC...
But we know the Buffalo Bills aren't a real threat to them. And in a way that sucks for the Bills and their fans. Really, really good team, entertaining, but they are pretenders as long as the Chiefs are good, and I have to view them as such from this point forward...
