In the past Black Christians have done much more for Black progress than any other group bar none. The Black Panthers had good ideas and but were unfortunately too short lived to make any long term impact.

But today the Black Church is a joke, like someone said before it's been compromised. Christianity/Love is becoming a hindrance. These 'lets forgive and forget' are not living in reality but are looking forwards to a promise of a better day.

As much as someone like @Napoleon would like if the Black Church is abandoned or destroyed right now Black people are beyond fukked.

As @Meet The Sniper already said:
- More community work than every black twitter user combined
- Still a congregation spot among older black folk
- a positive gathering spot for young black kids
- feeds people both in church and some share with the community
- offers students scholarships
- A community gathering spot of black non-destructive mentalities

The Black Church is not only our oldest power base it's the only power base we have right now. The only way we can relate to and reach out to the diaspora, from the Caribbean, to Latin America, to the Motherland.

I might get negged for what I'm about to say but IDGAF.

Black people worldwide have a huge problem with Hedonism and short term satisfaction and aside from white supremacy it's our #2 enemy.
The Black Church limits this somewhat from going rampant.
You have a drinking problem or drug addiction? You will be shamed.
Teen pregnancy? You will be shunned.
and etc...

Since most of us refuse to or don't have the means to cooperate economically; for now the best way we can coordinate our efforts to Black progress is through the church.
A lot of things have to change with the mentality of Black Christianity (more OT than NT).

Again all this is coming from someone who identifies as a Christian.

It common knowlege that many of the slaves revolts were inspired but stories in the bible and or by religious/ or spiritual leaders

Some of the first slaves gained freedom in the court of law by using passages from the bible.

The bible was used to teach many black people how to read because it was the only book allowed.
