I like the Rangers making this trade.
They've cooled a bit since May and I think they need Scherzer to pair him with Eovaldi in the playoffs. Especially now that deGrom is done for the year.

Scherzer would definitely opt out. And I think a lot of teams will line up to sign him. Even at 40 years old he's still pretty darn good.
Hey Yankees...this is something for you to look into in November.

Anyway for the Rangers, you have to go all-in. The Astros could very easily take the division lead in the 2nd half (I'd probably bet on it).
