Trust me, once they get older their ears are gonna change

It was the same with my generation, we was hip hop heads, then we got older, and started loving the shyt our parents played, and what girls was loving at the time

I already know it's gonna happen, that is gonna be the era when the music changes for the better. Music always goes in cycles based on the environment. Young people loved the three six mafia type shyt, and lil kim hoe shyt, because they had access to drugs, and porn, way more then we did. They think it makes them adult like, but once they hit 30 yrs old, they are gonne be burnt out. It may be earlier because I'm seeing chicks in their early 20s complaining about men in a different way then before. That means shyt is gonna change, because a lot of guys now cater to women like crazy. But there are gonna be some who dont care because they realize their the prize. No more "your special girl" rap shyt

Money, and credit, is about to be scarce, so fronting ain't gonna be so easy anymore. That means the music is gonna be more real, or the fans are gonna want to hear more real stuff.

black backpackers know R&B though.

They just liked it separate.

Dilla and Premier and all the other boom bap heads still listened to R&B.

Some of yall have no idea what you're talking about.

I dunno, man...

This notion of monolithic people is a weird take anyway... there's definitely black people out there who not only don't know, but don't give AF about any of the music made by Babyface and Ted. Of course not dudes like Premo or Dilla, that's different. I'm takin' about regular MFs who just like what they like, especially younger people. Everybody isn't a historian or have much knowledge on past eras of music. I wish it was that way, but you'll be pretty surprised how little certain folks know about music outside of the very specific things they listen to.

Okay you're right. If Curtis Mayfield us rnb I like it.

I just don't like Sisqo thing song rnb or pro-infidelity rnb.

I like true tested love songs like stand by me.

I know a few. Mostly G’s though. Squares love it.
There's 5 people I personally know that have bodies on them

2 out of them EXCLUSIVELY listen to rnb...one of them's favourite singer is mariah carey, and he's a legit stone cold bredda

0 don't fucc with rnb

Your post is false facts

Knowing who the artists are and actually listening to them are two different things. Me personally, I could care less about this Teddy/Babyface shyt and don't get the hype/excitement. Yes I know who they are. I'm a millennial who loves R&B, but have my short list of favorites. Even a lot of black women today ain't even fukking with R&B like they used to. People under the age of 31-32 today are mostly all about trap. Go to any college campus, Uber pool, bus, train in the city and all these girls/kids/adults under 32 are listening to is this new dumb rap shyt
Most young broads are listening to singers, the fucc are you even talking about? We forgetting how popular people like weekend, sza, summer walker etc are

And if your post was true then Solange's last two albums wouldn't be considered generation defining albums :upsetfavre:

i've never met a black person who doesn't appreciate R&B.

Theres certainly eras of R&B, but R&B is definitely appreciated by all black people. I can put money on that.

It's getting close to that time of year again. :mjlol:

This man is Rosenberg's closest industry friend for damn near 13+ years ,& running

I really really wish some of y'all understood that backpacker mentality of "them vs us" & the extreme bias that comes with it.

Their only exposure into soul is whatever El-P Alc , Harry fraud , Rza , Dilla chopped up on whatever vinyl they bought from Fat beats ... they're a different breed of music fan cause to them

Words>>>>>>Flow>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Sounds, in terms of music importance.

I would think the vast majority of people are casual fans of any particular genre.
I also don’t understand how it would be impossible to be a head but a casual R&B fan. The energy is different. Particularly for someone like Babyface.
It would be weird to be a head and despise all R&B, I don’t even know how that would be possible.
