if this was a national vote, Illmatic would more than likely get the most votes due to A lack of widely known songs..36 chambers at least has CREAM

And with that being said, i still picked Ready to Die

Great album, but it's gotta be Ready to Die, no question.

Sorry but I never held Ready To Die in that high regard. I always preferred LAD. Biggie seemed to be yelling in the mic on most of that album and it gets tiring trying to sit through the whole thing at times but it does have some classic songs and truth be told there was a little Chronic influence on that album. Things Done Changed chorus for example.

:what:

like only da 1st few songs at times (not the whole track)
give me da loot, things done changed, machine gun funk

besides dat... where is he yelling ???

these are the type of post that makes the internet something that should never be taken seriously

:what:
  • the chronic - besides warren g & i really cant think of anyone using the g funk
  • 36 chambers -when has a large group of solo mc's debut together thereafter going solo???
  • illmatic - took home R2D listen, studied shyt now on some money shyt
i dont know what world u could live in with your statement
if anything ready 2 die shifted hip hop more the. them 3 combined
cause R2D became the formula of making a hip hop albums in the 90's

:what:

  • the chronic - as already stated, damn near every song has an guest appearance on it (is not a committee)
  • 36 chambers -so 9 solo artists coming together on an album (is not a committee)
  • illmatic -exec produce pete nice whom got the best/top producers to all come together to be apart if this new great mc (is not a committee)

that committee shyt, u got it backwards & that force claasic shyt makes zero sense too when it out sold & got more radio, vid, spins then the 36 & ill

Numbers don't lie :youngsabo:

With great pain I selected Illmatic.

For me all the other albums provided a foundation for other great music that Illmatic didn't.

Without 36 Chambers we don't get the purple tape, liquid swords, tical, etc.

Without R2D we don't get all the great bad boy music of the 90's: 112, Total, Faith Evans, Mase, Flava In Ya Ear, Lil Kim, Jr Mafia, and the No Way Out album.

Without the Chronic that means no Doggystyle, Dogg Pound, no Death Row Pac! No murder was the case soundtrack!

And while Illmatic was great what did it birth... The Firm? One fire single from AZ (Sugar Hill)? shyt, Nas's BEST SONG is on It Was Written (Take It In Blood).

I'm just gonna go with the album I didn't buy when it was first released and that was Illmatic. Didn't buy it until 1996 a little after I copped It Was Written.

The disrespect of READY TO DIE is sickening. Like what you like, but nikkas outright lying.
The chronic and ready to die clearly shifted the culture more than the other two.
Biggie brought ny back and was New York's first solo super star since LLCOOLJ
These nikkas is nerds and kids, so I don't even pay attention to them.
