Nah Melo def got overrated by some but he was still a bonafide superstar and 1st ballot HOF. His stock just hurt cause he just not on the level of true all time talents he was compared to (Kobe, Dirk, Bron, DWade, Dwight, KD etc) durin his prime. Nothin wrong wit that he was easily a top 10 player for nearly a decade finished high as 3rd in MVP votin.

Melo took some struggle casts to playoff in Denver and NY pre Chauncey and when Amare was done. He also had beast playoff runs where he was outplayin all time great and HOFs somethin DeMar could never do. That 2013 season was mad underrated. His 2nd option was 6th man JR Smith. Felton, JR, 39yo JKidd, Chandler, Shump, Novak, Copeland... And he carried em to 54 wins and a top 3 offense. There's only at most 3-4 nikkas in 2025 that could have that impact wit a roster like that.

Not many of these new nikkas in this 2020s era peaked higher than Melo. Jokic, Giannis, SGA, Embiid, Luka probably only ones. Tatum debatable at best and he probably the next best so far before Wemby hit his prime.

No disrepect.....but many of the players/teams that you mentioned have a histoy of choking in the playoffs....How many times has Kyrie/Embiid/Milwaukee/Philly/Boston come up short over the last 5 year?...Boston just won it in 2025 after adding Porzingis.........Im sure if Lebron stayed in Cleveand the Cavs wouldve added players.....Whar if AD landed in Cleveland with Lebron instead of LA?

You don't watch much NBA do you?

AD obviously wasn't traded until the next season.......But there's no guarantee Toronto wouldve made the Leonard trade had Lebron stayed in Cleveland.....But my point still stands...Cleveland wouldve made trades to improve their roster.

You guys have gone overboard with the Demar hate and it’s getting corny. You don’t score the amount of points he did while being a bum or garbage . Comparing him to guys like Harrison Barnes and Danny Granger just shows how corny and goofy it has gotten.

If we gonna keep it a stack it’s Tracy Mcgrady, but nikkas was in high school when he was running around not doing shyt so he gets a pass.

T-Mac
Vince Carter
Carmelo
Mitch Richmond

All are in that same boat

To reiterate what I said in the observations thread a couple weeks ago…

Regarding DeMar, the obvious is obvious. The Raptors were an elite regular season that couldn’t get over the hump in the playoffs, traded him and won a title. The Spurs were a 10 seed, traded him and were still a 10 seed. The Bulls were a 9 seed, traded him and are currently the 9 seed.

He gets his numbers and has the accolades but he’s not really a needle mover like that and never really has been throughout his career. So it’s not really all that surprising that swapping Harrison Barnes for him was a lateral move

He’s 100% making the HOF when it’s all said and done - Will probably finish with 25k career points, 6x All-Star, a couple All-NBA selections, Olympic gold and FIBA gold

But at no point in his career have I ever felt like I was watching an all time great :hubie:

Everybody gets in but he absolutely should not make the Hall. Empty stats superstar and horrible playoff performer.

When he said if they (Toronto) had LeBron, they woulda won the series, he shoulda been banned from all future All-Star and All-NBA teams.

guarantee the raptors still will retire his jersey regardless.
