Can be summed up as:
There's needs to be some serious fallback, and turn this price announcement into a celebration. Here's the competition
Samsung ATIV Smart PC(wack processor in comparison)
Newegg.com - Samsung ATIV SmartPC XE500T1C-A01US 11.6-inch Windows 8 Tablet – 64GB
HAve used this a few times and love it. Wanted to see the Surface Pro first.
Sony VAIO Tablet Laptop | VAIO Duo 11 Ultrabook | SVD11213CXB | Sony USA
Dell XPS 12 Duo and Asus Taichi have already confirmed they will be startign at $1100
If you want a cheaper Windows 8 tablet, there are ATOM models like the Asus Vivo Tab RT and Acer Iconia W700 that are closer to the surface RT in price with full windows 8. But they are nowhere near the power of an i5
What's so special:
- real non-bullshyt processor
- real graphic processor for people doing photoshop, movie editing, etc
- probably has a magnesium shell like the Surface RT, so lighter than other tablets
- Stylus. No spec yet, but if this is Wacom, this is a huge advantage over anything in its range
- Attaches to the surface keyboards. Still haven't seen a good match for that kind of keyboard.
-1080p screen
- Twice the ram of regular tablets
- Full Windows 8 Pro, meaning works for enterprise apps, works for all windows programs, and works with the metro apps, and transferable settings via removeable media. Not to mention Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 work great together.
Basically you're getting a high end ultra book, with a real processor. They could easily have thrown in the keyboard and made this thing $1100. Seriously, the convertibles and ultrabooks of this quality are in the same price range and up. Sony VAIO Duo 11(my favorite so far), Asus Taichi, Dell Duo 11. And look

stop it slime , yall aint fooling no body, both that Samsung and vaio you posted are DOA, when the last time someone trusted anything Sammy or Sony for a laptop regardless of specs
Next up as far as what so special , this thing is a tablet, Microsoft has been calling it a tablet everyone else has been calling it a tablet , only you and hiphoplives have been calling it a ultra-book, its a tablet not a ultra book ,its a tablet not a hybrid. i already pointed it out early in this thread that ultra-books are still niche market right now, do you know the type of regular notebook you can get for $1,100?? shyt do you know the type of notebook you can pick up for $800 right now and it comes with a KEYBOARD by default you dont have to pay a extra $100 for it and is able to do ALL those thing that you THINK make this tablet so special and not even that for about $300 less than what this tablet cost you can buy a notebook with almost 7 times the storage space
The surface rt is already a flop and this one will be too and its not cause of the specs, hey we get it MS went ahead and put every spec known to man in a tablet, don't you think apple could have done that? or Google? but believe it or not most people don't want that in a tablet and anybody who does want all those specs in a tablet doesn't want to pay $1,100 for it and anyone with any smarts who can afford to pay $1,100 for is going to get themselves a laptop before one of these

Actually, that's what it's looking at:

ya that's through rough testing too , this surface pro tablet is going to get 4 hours through Microsoft own admission , once this thing is put through real life battery stress test i would be surprised at 2.5 hours of battery life
