My brother's keeper
at this point, is there an actor who opens movies anymore? Without the story being a brand name, so don't say RDJ or something. If there was just a regular drama starring ___________, could it make $100 million?

I would have said Bradley Cooper after American Sniper, but as we've seen from his next few movies, that was sold on concept and subject matter.

When was the last time you thought "I'm gonna go see that __________ movie?" Will Smith's Concussion will probably flop and I don't think Focus broke the bank.

Dicaprio?
I think Tom Hardy is getting there

Movie stars still exist. People forget we had a huge dry run in 2000s. How many people did hollywood try to push and they failed to blow up?
10 Actors Hollywood Tried And Failed To Make Happen

Just brutal. They need need time. Remember they same guys Clooney, Smith, Cruise, Pitt, Travolta have been big for 20 years because they couldn't find anyone better aside Hugh Jackman. Only within the last 10-15 have you had Gosling, hardy, Cooper, Levitt, etc.

What has Del Toro done lately besides Pacific Rim, which wasn't nearly as cool as I thought it'd be. The dude talks about doing more amazing projects than any director... then does Crimson Peak.

He attaches himself to awesome shyt, then when you hear him speak all he talks about is Pacific Rim 2 and Hellboy 3... we don't need these movies, and i like the Hellboy series a lot. Then he inevitably drops out of the cool project and does this... now he won't make a movie for 3 years watch. Why can he write Justice League Dark but not direct it?

Dude has been living off of the Pan's labyrinth hype for 9 years now. He's been a joke.

@TheGodling is on point in this thread imo.

The real test will be when they change actors in Marvel movies. If they are making it one big story and a new actor is playing Iron Man and Chris Hemsworth I think that might turn off many people. Sure, they changed Hulk but that movie feels like its been forgotten and not much that happened in it has had effects on the other movies and they still don't have a solo Mark Ruffalo Hulk movie.

I didnt see 1 ad for this film. Not 1. They sent that out to die. I didnt even know it was a movie until this weekend when I saw a review for it.

Yeah, I hadn't heard about this shyt until like a week ago either. I'm actually shocked to see it opened on so many screens. Seems like the kind of movie they'd put on 1000 or less.

There's been tons of ads and radcliffe been heavy on the podcast promo game. It just looked awful.

Looked like something better suited for January or February

Why the fukk would anyone think going onto a podcast is gonna do shyt? :mjlol:

And I actually looked the movie up and saw it was written by Max Landis?! Between this and American Ultra he's falling off that "young fresh talent" pedestal almost as fast as his Chronicle buddy Josh Trank did. :russ:

Hell, I just saw he got another movie upcoming called Mr. Right as well, and its first reviews are also overwhelmingly negative. Guess that's it then. Completely rip off Akira for your first well received movie and then accomplish nothing anymore, brehs.
