Let's be real he's kind of overrated . Wes Anderson and lost in translation revived his the artistic Part of career and now people act like he didn't do a bunch of junk as well as good movies .

denzel is def one of the last movie stars
first off, he's still banking at least 20 mil a film... actually he banks 20 mil for signing to the film, whether it gets made or not
he's still good for 150-200 mil plus in any damn plot or movie
he's crossed over where even white suburban folks are saying "hey you hear about that new denzel movie"
and the critics still love every performance... even if the movie is shyt.. he still gets his props... kinda like morgan freeman... you'll never see bad reviews on the acting

You were spot on. Only thing I can think of is that Del Toro has been on a semi-hot streak recently and he's the type of director that good reviews and word of mouth can typically push a film..
And honestly the Wachowski's are the DEFINITION of. Unless the word "Matrix" is a part of their next film they shouldn't be allowed to go anywhere NEAR a film budget
They're ahead of their time. Or maybe just in a different lane. They dare to be different.
Gunman was crap. Penn was trying to get that taken money and failed miserably.
