I said that I disagreed with it. I think the Civil Rights Laws had more to do with the advancement of Asian Americans in mainstream society than the things cited in the article. Once some of the legal restrictions were lifted....academically oriented cultures within America saw greater opportunities for success.

"Model minority" label was definitely aggressively pushed. But the actual progress came about once certain forms of discrimination were made illegal.

US was involved in public conflicts against Asian countries in the 50s and 1960s'70s..Korea and then Vietnam.
I hardly think that ugly stereotypes slurs or attitudes about Asians from the early 20th century "went away". They might have shifted from one group of Asians being singled out to another group, but they surely didn't evaporate from popular culture.
It’s not about Education. They controlled for education. Asians were getting college educated and only being allowed to do minimal jobs such as washing carrots/cleaning products with educations.

They were on the same pay scale as blacks and were even called “colored”. propaganda is a powerful tool. Most people are sheep, look how easily the Russians were able to get all these cacs fired up and angry. White people have always been the most susceptible to group think, that’s why they all stay on code.

Being easily manipulated by the government and propaganda to think and feel a certain way like everyone else does is part of the drawbacks of white people being on racial oppressive codes

The H
Salute for posting this. It's always fascinating to learn about the inner workings of the game. I get and enjoy that TLR is mainly the "fukkery" central, but I wish there were more threads about how the system works and what we as black people need to do in order to advance.

:ohhh: Might have to put this on my radar.
Same thread was made a while back .in HL I believe

Venture outside of tlr every now and then

Basically the more accepted into mainstream america you are, the more you will succeed which is the same for many immigrant groups such as asians, italians, irishs, iranians, lebanese, etc. Does the emphasis on education factor into that success? Of course it does but if america hated and purposely built an entire system to keep asians down, then there will be no success. And this is generally why a lot of minorities dislike blacks because to be accepted into mainstream america, you have to adopt a similar mindset. A lot of which is, well I came to this country with nothing and now I have something, so why can't others?

I read and formed opinion about what you've posted and I don't think you've extended me the same courtesy.

Civil Rights laws opened up opportunities for education, employment, loans, etc to non whites and to non-wasp whites...really to anybody who wasn't a WASP male This legislation passed between the decades cited in the op article...1940s and the 1970s. Those laws and their impact have more to do with the mainstream success of Asians in America than any public propaganda campaign.

If you look up the stats for jews ..I'd guess that post Civil Rights era...their success in mainstream America is reflected also.

I haven't read anything that challenges or refutes this.

Yes. I stopped reading closely when the article tapdanced around giving credit to the Civil Rights Movement and said " the slow dismantling of discriminatory institutions post WW2" as if Black people didn't agitate and fight for those changes.
you're not actually disagreeing you just don't like the way the article was written.

:manny: There is no future for black people in America, the best thing black people to do is acquire wealth, invest in Africa and repatriate back to the motherland.

no, not just that...
I think Civil Rights Acts are the MAIN reason.....

& .like I said in the other reply

anti asian stereotypes slurs caricatures didn't "go away" despite what the article claims
Korean War....Vietnam War very public graphic conflicts with Americans fighting Asian combatants..in the 1950s.....60s and 70s. Vietnam played out in people's living rooms.

You think Whites know, care or care to know differences between Koreans,Chinese,Japanese or Vietnamese?

You think they cared or know in the 1960s and 70s?

are you aware of the type of press that Asians got prior to the Civil Rights Era?
again you aren't disagreeing with what was written in the article
