I respect the intent. I disagree with most of it though.
I think that Japanese and Korean families have always stressed education in their cultures...both back home and wherever they migrate to. Other non wasp group that has strong culture of education are Jews. They succeeded in the industries that were open to them in 19th century and then 20th century, but were under the thumb of American racism towards non-white people (and yes ethnic whites have only been considered white in this country for maybe 70 years or so) .

When the Civil Rights Acts were passed making it illegal to block people from education,business,housing,etc based on race,ethnicity,gender....these other non whites benefited much more than Black people did.
It was the passing of Civil Rights legislation that helped these other groups reap the rewards that our people marched,bled,and died for. This is why so many Jews funded and supported the Civil Rights movement. It was in their best interest to do so.

If you look at similar data for white women,,etc for the decades mentioned....you'll see similar rises.

Not sure about Chinese, but Japanese,Korean, cultures heavily stress education and entrepreneurship to their children. MUCH more than our communities do. REAL TALK.

Count the "fukk a book" "fukk a degree" threads and comments here on a forum full of Black people. Imagine any kind of nonsense like that on a forum of Asian guys. I bet you can't.

Don't forget the $25,000 EACH the Japanese internment folks got from Ronald Reagan, aka reparations. Hell, don't holocaust survivors get money from the U.S? It didn't even happen here! But let us mention reparations, and they say we get welfare and food stamps, as if most of us want to live that way, and as if every race doesn't consume those things.

They love talking about hard work, yet someone in the comments said if one had to choose between and Asian American, and an African American with the same education, they would more likely choose the Asian, because they believe they have a stronger work ethic. So they're admitting they don't want to hire us. Someone replied, how are you going to break the stereotype if they can't get the job in the first place? CRICKETS.

You pair that with the longer search for a job, getting the job, and still being pulled over and racially profiled by the police. Then when we vent, they claim we're the ones who are racist, and they're being oppressed.

And I've met many Asians who admit they talk shyt right in front of white people. That's one of the many things other cultures have that we don't. They were able to bring their language. That is the only reason white people get mad when folks aren't speaking english.

I had this conversation with some guys from Pakistan, India, and Colombia. They take for granted they came here and were allowed to speak their own language, stay in their own neighborhood, and practice their religion mostly unbothered , by white folks.

On top of that they still are able to communicate with family back home to establish economic ties and relationships.

They don't get it, until you break it down to them.

You can't compare first generation immigrants to people who have already live here and feel hopeless, because back during the era of the civil rights blacks stressed that same merit on education. nikkas were dying to get into adequate schools. Plus you tripping if you think 2nd generation of asian aren't more "Americanized" partying more and not studying as much.....

Although I agree that Asian-Americans don't have to overcome the same obstacles as African-Americans, racism isn't the main reason why they are more successful than us.

The reason why Asian-Americans are more successful than us is because you're comparing a group of people that had the resources, determination, and drive to travel halfway across the world to build a new life, versus a group of people that were (ignoring the "we were already here" theory) shipped here en masse. Even if you took away slavery, Jim Crow, and other policies designed to subjugate us, it still wouldn't be an equal comparison. You can't compare people in the top 10% of their race, to a slice of another race that goes from top to bottom.

There are a billion+ poor Asians in their homeland that are just as uneducated and non-enterprising as poor black people. But the 10-20M that make it over to the US are the ones that we are measured against. That's an unfair comparison, even before you factor in racism.
