This is the reason the Older Generation was against Hip Hop
ehh.
the older generation was against hip-hop from the start, even when it was all positive.
I don't know how this gets overlooked nowadays.
This is the reason the Older Generation was against Hip Hop
A lot of people especially those who love rap, don't want to listen to this. They rather put their heads in the sand and act like nothing said in this thread is right.
Even slaves were considered incompetent and lazy. Think about that.
The thug American rapper is a by product of Americas lust for crime and violence. Its not a black thing. Its entertainment and it sells because Americans love it. No different then Hollywood. Rap is the perhaps the most definitive example of musical expression thats ever existed..... perhaps its also the most influential. But it has nothimg to do with how people see us. They even tried to treat Obama as a boy instead of the recognized leader of the free world. Their racism has nothing to do with us. We build they destroy, we attempt to rise as a people they stop at nothing to tear us down. Dont you understand this? They hate us period. It doesnt matter if we are some piece of shyt rapper or the POTUS. We still ******s in their eyes. You got to understand the ignorance as well as the arrogance. We dont create stereotypes... They do.... and they stigmatize and instill these stereotypes into the minds of all of us. To the point you think your the problem. Thats its us that makes them hate us..... As if they ever needed a reason.

Get white people off your mind for a sec. Modernday hiphop is a HUGE reason black people stereotype OTHER BLACK PEOPLE. Hiphop culture is a big reason alot of black youth feel the need to hide their true intelligence and instead act ignorant and "swagged out". Its a big reason why our overall racial pride is at an all-time low. Its a big reason why the black image is that of a joke to the world. Its a big reason why some blacks fear and distrust other black people
Hiphop culture has reduced the black image to that of violent, uncivilized thugs IN OUR OWN EYES.
Rap is a problem that's true, young people getting neck and hand tats making them unemployable .
Doing stupid things like smoking weed in public and getting a misdemeanor on their record. Wearing oversize clothes and saying its part of my culture. Didn't see any Africans wearing baggy crap and calling their women thots and sluts and bragging about running trains on them . The excuse of but their were drugs and guns pumped into the community before . That's true and those people should take full responsibility for being weak and gullible .
Today, hiphop culture is being used as "media propaganda" against the black race:
Most of the easily-accessible, mainstream rap promotes and glorifies criminal/destructive behaviour for a specific reason. That reason is to keep the most negative stereotypes of the black race alive in the mainstream conciousness.
There's a reason you have to "dig and find" black music that promotes positivity. Meanwhile, i turn my radio on and every other song is telling me to "move that dope" or glorifying lean and popping pills
No lies told, but I honestly think you gotta be pretty naive to believe that black people collectively celebrate being stereotyped as animals doesn't have a dehumanizing effect. If we're being real, the image of a dead, unarmed black man is not as powerful as it could be in 2016 because we have told everybody that we are violent and unconscionable creatures. Not saying things would be perfect wihtout Hip-Hop. Of course not. But one thing is being stereotyped -another thing is to proudly confirm that stereotype.
As a world wide oppressed minority we are, like it or not, at the mercy of our image in many ways. If black children grow up in a society that feeds them a little spoon of shyt very day, telling them that they are not good enough, guess what they'll become?
You can't really spin this one...It's not even about caring what other people think about us. It's about the fact that we can't talk about and treat each other like shyt, and uplift ourselves at the same time.
You're right, most people that listen to Hip-Hop don't end up as criminals, but because Hip-Hop is normalizing anti-social behaviour they become the silent majority to the bullshyt, which is almost just as bad. No one is saying that Hip-Hop is the oppressor of black people, but it's facilitating it. We can't control how society decides to treat us, but shouldn't we at least do everything we can do on our part?
