too many vultures and parasites circling rn anyway. some other genre can have it while we refocus. I'm tired of the zumba and pitchfork crowd always having something to say. should've never got to the point where the white woman at the supermarket self checkout is asking you about the meaning of wacced out murals.

This thread is not about what is seen as cool in Hip-Hop. It's about how Hip-Hop is perceived.

Who decides what’s considered cool in hip hop? Just because something isn't liked by the average American doesn’t make it uncool. If the fans of hip hop think it’s cool, then it remains cool. Hip hop has never catered to popular opinion—that’s part of what makes it authentic and appealing. Its blending of cultures, inherent rebellion, and distinctive fashion all contribute to its coolness. The style associated with hip hop—whether it’s streetwear, unique accessories, or iconic brands—reflects its culture and identity, reinforcing its status as a trendsetter.

It seems like you want fans of mainstream artists like Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter, as well as average pop and country fans, to validate hip hop. Saying that Diddy’s mistakes mean hip hop isn't cool anymore is absurd. The essence of hip hop is about staying true to oneself, regardless of mainstream approval. You sound like a casual fan, which is fine, but at least be honest about it.

I don't want anything. That's your mistake, as well as many people in this thread.

I'm making an observation about how Hip-Hop lost the aura of coolnees it once had in the opinion.

It's not an attack. It's an analysis.

Don't take it personal.

Your analysis is off. You can’t come to a hip hop forum and say hip hop isn’t cool without backing it up. How long have you been listening to hip hop? How serious are you about it? Are you just a casual fan? If you can’t provide some solid points and examples, then your opinion doesn’t hold much weight here.

Hip Hop being the way it is nowadays is why for like a solid 2 months these have been getting non-stop spins:

You either rock with the direction or just listen to what you like. The "backlog" of good hiphop is endless.

Your questions have nothing to do wth the thread.
You way too emotional.

I don't really care how you perceive my opinion. It's a public forum. You can skip the thread if my opinion is meaningless to you:yeshrug:

I don’t see how saying that someone who isn’t really into a genre shouldn’t critique it is emotional. I’m here in this public forum to say that people should stick to what they know and only comment on things they’re actually involved in and passionate about - that’s what my questions point to.

This is absurd.

You don't need to love or to be passionate about something to make an observation about it.

Nah, That's how we lost rock & roll by surrendering and letting cacs homogenize it.

The fact you're now having this discussion 2 decades after Nas officially declared its dead proves the problem with rap was the fans..

This is absurd.

You don't need to love or to be passionate about something to make an observation about it.

If you’re just a casual listener, you don’t have much of a say. Let me compare it to a sport: if you don’t watch basketball, you don’t have enough knowledge or investment to make a fair assessment. Or think of it like a book: if you haven’t read it or don’t understand the author’s style, you can’t make a fair judgment. So your thread is trash not relevant. Is that clearer for you?
