I could definitely see us hitting the older genre's back. Wouldn't mind black folk taking a bigger swing at rock.
ive found a few newer black hardcore bands that are influenced by powerviolence/noise music as much as metal and rap. i made a thread on one of them but i dont think it ever went anywhere. young people are gonna innovate whether people are paying attention or not. you'd think as awful as america is these days that conscious rap and punk rock/hardcore would be bigger.

mainstream music will continue to wither and die. im sure drake will have another weed plate out soon

Hip Hop is more focused on the youth than old heads. Old rappers barely even make music anymore.

:mjlol: the number one album and song on the charts is going to be hip hop
Rock was still topping the chart when Hip-Hop became the coolest/most rebellious genre.

It's a slow process. And it ain't about the chart per se.

See in 5 years

And you need to reread what I wrote.

I’m telling OP that’s probably his idea of cool.

Man I would hate to see most of your middle school English grades.
What you wrote has nothng to do with this thread.

Since when does being 'cool' in hip hop have nothing to do with fashion? Clothing reflects the entire essence of what it means to be cool.

Don’t come at me, bro; I have time today.

This thread is not about what is seen as cool in Hip-Hop. It's about how Hip-Hop is perceived.

The idea of a musical genre having eternal pop culture dominance hasn’t borne out to be true. I’m sure fans of jazz and rock and roll once held your opinion.

A music genre doesn’t have to be popular to be cool. Rock is still cool, even if it hasn’t been at the top of the charts in years.
